I started out playing DF normally, in ASCII mode of course.  Then last night, I installed a couple of the graphics mods from the wiki and holywtf, my game runs a -lot- faster now.

Anyone else notice this?

I suspect it's just the most recent official upgrade, I haven't installed any mods and I noticed a gigantic jump in game speed when I upgraded to the newest version.

Yeah. With the most recent update, fortress mode runs insanely fast. TOO fast. It'll slow down as my fortress expands I'm sure, but early on it's annoying to see every dwarf as a blur.

Not really. For me, it just runs at the same speed from start to finish, now, rather than slowing down near the end; it's really nice.

Yeah I havent modded and notice the speed increase.  Oddly, this is with a new fort, my old save was still generally slow even with the new binaries.  My new fort is at 50 dwarves, old fort was over 100 and had many more rooms and items.  But I don't think the old fort was this fast with 50 dwarves.
