"There ya go. All fixed. Probably. You should test it out a bit. That whole 'psychic attunement' thing kinda makes it a pain to test if the controls are working well."
Lee looks toward his handiwork and puts his hand to his chin contemplatively.

"Hey...you know how you have this fire sword thing that can kill the bad guys close while I have this big gun that can kill things far away? What if we like...combine those two things somehow? Then we could kill things that are close and far. It would be the ultimate weapon. Some kind of...fire sword-gun."
"That... just sounds like me standing next to you killing the things that are close while you kill the things that are far. Are you just asking me to team up with you? Because if you are, then sure. If you really want to try to, like, strap a gun to my sword, then... also sure, but maybe we should have a backup weapon first in case it goes really badly?"

Hiro has politely fulfilled his promise and repainted Lee's scratched hands. I mean, not his personal hands, Zaqiel's hands.

"I'm surprised nobody else showed up for repairs. I saw the shield girl took some damage somehow, but I guess she handled it herself. Do you want to look for anybody, or just hang out and try playing some Mecha Volleyball or something? Actually, that sounds like a really good idea, I haven't been able to get any more practice in since, you know, smashing up my controls."

Lee nods sagely.

"I guess that would also work too. It would be like the gun and sword working together when we're working together. It would be like an ultimate weapon, but a team instead of a weapon! Speaking of the others we should probably get them in on our ultimate team. Then we could kill things at short, long, and even medium distances. Parts are probably easier to weld together than people though"

He removes his possible scratched hand from his face and puts it behind his back.

"I'll pass on the sports. I'd rather work up a sweat by napping in the sun. A sauna would also be nice, but I don't think we have any here at base. I was just going to hang around and see if anyone else needed repairs while hoping they didn't. I remember the miner had a broken grappling hook, I'll probably have to fix that if the shield girl is working on her shield."

Hiro thinks deeply about the concept of welding people together. "Isn't that basically just marriage? No offense, but I don't think we're there yet. It doesn't sound like a good idea to go around welding any of our people together literally or metaphorically. Is anybody even really specialised for killing things at medium distances? I guess the miner guy could use the grappling hook to make things at medium distances become things at short distances. That sounds like a solid team dynamic to me. Then I guess we put shield girl in front to take all the hits? ...Judging by how well we all work together so far, you're right, maybe it WOULD be easier to just weld all the parts together and have one person do everything."

Hiro makes no movement to leave, but, as it becomes clear that nobody is showing up, eventually climbs into his mecha and starts stomping around the room more or less randomly.

Week 1 - Miracle Bridge Battle
Layout
Enemy Types:
Basic Enemy
Gerra
Pazuzu

Wave 1
Detected Units: Basic Enemy x23, Gerra x8, Pazuzu x14
Detected Nodes: 3, 5, 6

Miracle Bridge was one of the largest on the entire mountain. There was a large cluster of smaller bridges beneath it. It was the perfect avenue for an Enemy attack. The routes to and from the bridge provided easy access to several villages. And the network beneath would make it difficult to mount a functional defense, as traversing between the main bridge and lower web was next to impossible without flight. Something the Enemy had already brought to the table.

The pilots of Saint Mecha X were going to find themselves in a much more difficult position on their second outing than they had with the first

Taking advantage of the Miracle Bridge's long line of sight, Lee takes position on its human side prepared to transform the ancient architecture into his own personal shooting gallery (while avoiding all the jumping and maneuvering those cosigned to the bridges below will have to endure.) Zaqiel picks up and releases a mecha-fistfull of dirt from the mountain. He watches contemplatively as the winds take it, lazily calculating how much he'll have to adjust his aim at this distance.

Watching Lee immediately rush to the top bridge, Shiki sits in their cockpit, contemplating the battlefield, before coming to a decision.
"My fellow pilots, given the layout of the battlefield, I recommend we split up, with Yuta, Tsukiko, and Hiro on bridge four, with me and Kaji on bridge ten, where we can bombard the remaining two ingress points of the enemy. The group on bridge four would be positioned such that they could quickly drop down to the lower levels to mop up the other two nodes, either once they have defeated all the enemies on their bridge, or should the lower group require rapid support. Lee could also join the ranged group on Bridge ten, if no enemies fly over Miracle bridge. Alternatively, Yuta could join me on Bridge ten, and we could pair the spotter and our artillery on bridge 4, or have Kaji and his mortar on bridge 8 with the spotter on bridge 10 to relay targeting data, and with tsukiko to hold the line, unless tsukiko goes to one of the lower bridges... Any configuration could work I suppose, but I would still recommend a larger group on bridge four, to clear it first, then sweep down through the other two."
Then they begin moving down to bridge ten. Once in position on bridge ten, they nock an arrow into their bow, before closing their eyes and taking a deep breath. "Good luck"

Oblivious as usual to the chatter over the airwaves as so much twittering birdsong, Hiro is struggling with a deep internal conflict. On the one hand, just a couple days ago he made a promise to team up with his new BEST FRIEND and BROCOMRADE to form the perfect near/far killing team. On the other hand, that maze of bridges underneath Miracle Bridge looks like so much fun to jump around in. Then again, jumping around wildly did turn out to be a less than optimal strategy last time...

Hiro breathes in indecisively. Friends help each other, right?

Hiro leaps up to Miracle Bridge and takes a point-defense position beside and in front of the Zaqiel, uselessly to everyone.

"I see you've all already managed to muck this up without my help." Ren shook her head, despite the motion not being visible to anyone who was paying attention to the enemy. "I've already assessed everyone's tactical strengths and weaknesses. What we should have done was place Gobnait's Flock atop the Miracle Bridge with my assistance, then used Zaqiel's direct-fire capacity to cover Bridge 4. Alas, we will simply have to make do." She scanned the area with her radar to get a better feel for the layout, while she continued to assess the situation. "I second placing Kaji on bridge 8 with myself providing expert reconnaissance from 10. With Memory of the Righteous in his current position, we simply need the remainder to block the path of the enemies coming on four, nine, and 12."

Ren gave a self-satisfied nod. "That concludes Hakuryuu's tactical analysis. Please don't make me repeat myself." With that charming line, she advanced to take up the position she previously suggested on bridge 10, carefully monitoring her radar's readouts all the while.

Kaji scratches the side of his head absent-mindedly. This tactical stuff was kinda more complex than he cared for.

Mostly.

"Do remember they can strike from anywhere," Kaji warns. "We know where they're definitely coming from, but that doesn't mean they won't pop up somewhere else."

With that, he hops to Bridge 8, waiting for something to shoot at. And occasionally glancing above him to make sure there weren't any allied accessories taking a quick detour over his firing arc.

"What, what are you talking about? Who'm I supposed to listen to?" Still on general comms, Yuta defaulted to the person who'd helped him last fight, "Lee, who do I listen to??"

Until he knows where to go, Yuta was just looking over the enemies advancing, trying to find ones in smaller groups. He didn't want to be dragged by a group again, he needed somewhat isolated targets. Or. . . could he nab one of those flying ones with his grapple, and then loop the grapple around the bridge?

Blinking twice, Lee is taken out of his wind-reading trance by someone directly asking him a question.

"Uh, you're asking me who you should listen to?"

He puts his hand to his chin contemplatively.

"You should...listen to your heart. I think that is what Sensei Shirou would say at least. Dunno if that is really a helpful answer, but I bet its what the old Saint Mecha would do. He's always saying that we need to learn for ourselves."

Shiki speaks with a voice that's cold and calm. Attempting to help impose order onto the group.
"Yuta, please move to Bridge 4, Bridge 9, or Bridge 12. We need someone to cover one of them, I would recommend bridge 4 or 9, as we can then have Tsukiko on the other to act as a shield wall. Or you could group up with Tsukiko and aim to clear one of the bridges out. Kaji will be bombarding bridge 4, while I will be attempting to snipe as many as I can on bridges 9 and 12. We will need someone to clear up the stragglers. Tsukiko, your shield will also be of great use for delaying enemies, perhaps Bridge 4 might be best, it is the narrowest of the bridges we know the enemy are coming down, letting you block more, and you lack boosted maneuverability, meaning you can't navigate up easily, so bridge four will allow you to simply sweep down to reposition to the other known entry points."

Yuta looked deep within himself, and found only irritation at Shiki's haughty attitude. He decided that maybe listening to his heart was not going to be useful in this scenario. "Yeah uhm I'm gonna go bridge 9 I guess. Gotta kick some ass somewhere, so why not there."

Yuta clambered his mech in the stated direction, heading for the midpoint of bridge 10. Not planning to get on bridge 9, cause that sounds like courting a beating.  Maybe he could actually manage to drag a mech off this time. For now, he braced his machine against the side of the bridge, trying to remain inconspicuous, trying to figure out the lead for the lead mech on bridge 9. That way he'd be dragging him sorta the way he wanted to come, so that'd be easier right? And the guys behind him would have to go around him to grab the wire this time.

Also Yuta reminded himself to aim ahead of the enemy mech this time. That was surely important. And now, he'd simply have to wait until they got close enough.

"Bridge four, gotcha. Let me know if I'm getting any backup." She elects not to comment on either the disorganized strategy and Hiro utterly disregarding literally every plan offered so far as she sets up Our Lady in position, shield ready. Wouldn't be any help to anyone either.

The team pulled through in the battle last week, probably with no shortage of good luck, but luck only got you so far. They'd need consistent plans, and someone to consistently create them. First order of business once the Enemy was taken care of would have to be deciding on a strategist.

...Tsukiko pretends she doesn't want to know why that didn't happen last week.

Shiki, Ren, and Yuta had a solid view of bridges 9 and 12 from bridge 10. They spotted 8 Basic Enemy units and 4 Pazuzu approaching on each. 2 of the Gerra were on bridge 9, and 3 Gerra were on bridge 12. In addition, Shiki's sensors picked up 3 more Pazuzu emerging from node 4.

Enemies Detected. Pazuzu x3 at node 4

Upon noticing the arrival of Saint Mecha X, the Pazuzu on bridge 12 all four shifted course, making a beeline straight for bridge 10. They moved with blistering speed, making them very difficult to track. Two more Pazuzu from bridge 9 joined in, closing in from the other side at an equal pace. While the ground units would take a while to close the distance, the high-speed Pazuzu would be on top of the ground in a matter of seconds if nothing stopped them first.

The remaining two Pazuzu on bridge 9 made Kaji their target, blasting toward the artillery mecha positioned alone on bridge 8.

Tsukiko on bridge 4 found herself facing down the remaining Enemy forces. 7 basic units, 3 Gerra, and 6 Pazuzu. While the ground units charged straight towards her, the Pazuzu spread out in the air, flying in swerving patterns that would make it much more difficult to hit them.
