It is assumed that many of the 'thinky' and 'feely' skills dwarves have will become important in the future, but as they stand many of them are vague and have few gameplay hooks.

I would like to see more reasons to assign dwarves to specific tasks, and more leverage to ensure the right dwarf for the job has a leadership position.  Consider this thread a stockpile for all of the assorted concepts along those lines.

Examples to get the ball rolling:

Putting someone with the right qualifications as a guild leader, military trainer, etc.
Easier parsing of a dwarf's mental qualities and talents, to make this process easier.  (The multiparagraph info dump about a dwarf is a bit much to glance through sometimes)
More hooks for schemes and conspiracies, as well as interpersonal and diplomatic relations- aligned or opposed ideologies giving way to friction or unity.

I think what's missing is a specific way to raise soft skills. Assigning a musician or poet to the tavern should grind XP just like any other job.

I would also love to see spy missions, so that dwarves with high social skills could scout out sites and bring back specific info on their defenses.

In the most recent podcast we talk about this happening, even against the player's knowledge.  It would be very fun.

allow the player or even noblemen to mandate stuff of scholars to "write/engrave the history or legend of such and such" for a museum that you'd want to make so you can have organized and contextualized museums and libraries, and/or some control over the "culture" of dwarves.

I mean there should be random stuff too, though perhaps that's the better way to go about it, they should be tasked to write even if most of it is dribble and pointless.
