Empty, but for yourself and the implements of modern medicine. You cast your eyes about the room, noting at a glance the white plaster and the beeping monitor and the stainless-steel faucet and the--

You try to blin--

Panicking, you wheeze through too-wide nostrils as your mouth flaps and gapes. You suck frantically through your neck (your neck?) at the sterile hospital air. Your left eye falls blearily on a convenient wall-mirror-- a dreadful, an unbelievable truth emerges--
