not named yet (SG)
« on: August 11, 2020, 03:44:42 am »

"Something something something exposition; some story of the world before hope told by the alvs being a dreary bleak and unchanging hellscape of stone trees ash and demons... then move on about humanity being given hope by the giant space dragon, to the lich lord of the afterlife, to the lady lord of love, to liege lord of guidance, who brought about the age of hope and of course with hope brings brings despair, but it has been a long time and there are those who say the age of hope is ending and the hopes of men are shattered... bringing those who bare false hope, whom turn into accursed undead that must feed on the hopes of others to struggle on... or go hollow... even here in these forgotten cells the cursed roam, stealing the meager hope of life from vermin... Please... take up my hope so that it may at least escape from this fate... it's the least I could do to make up for what I've done..."

You feel yourself filed with hope.

Without memory you stand there, alive.

(yeah i know... "what this?", is yet another mystery flavor single character suggestion game but this time it most definitely wont be dnd and i actually have some of it thought out ahead of time =p I'll try to get this updated through today as much as anyone wants... just to get it started up)

Look around, where do we find ourselves?

You look around; you are in a stone room, some sort of prison cell made by human hands to contain humans. The occupant of which seems to be a dessicated former human, who lays slumped into the corner nearby. The cell is in quite an extreme amount of poor maintenance and is host to molds, insects, and dead vermin. The slick stone walls rise up to the stone ceiling, and the only light comes from without the wide spaces in the barred metal door from the hallway beyond.

Hm-kay... here we go again!
Let's start with a quick checklist.

In no particular order:
- Inspect self.
- Inspect potential fragments of lost memory.
- Inspect corpse.
- Take inventory.
- Are we breathing?
- Do we have a basic grasp of language?
- Can we speak?

You inspect; yourself with your tiny pinkish hands, touching your fur and breathing face... you are warm clean and dry, arms, legs, tail all good.
You don't have anything like lost memory fragments in your inventory to inspect, currently you actually only have one item; a False Hope.
You squeak.
You do not have anyone to speak with here, but you are sure you can understand speaking.
You inspect; corpse, it's something formerly human and although it is much larger than you you can tell it is definitely dead. It smells decayed and dried up though you can't tell if this is a recently deceased human or something else has caused it to end up this way.

See if the corpse has any loot on it, then try to open the door out of the room.

You search the corpse for loot; you find nothing remotely useable as you push the lootless human corpse around.

You pull and push the door from inside and outside the cell, its locked and you do not have the key.

Wait can we just walk through the bars.

If that's the case lets just get out of the cell and look around.

You walk out the door that is clearly only meant to keep human sized beings locked away and into the torchlit hall.
The walls and floor are damp stone and gibbets and more cells nearly fill the walkway.
There seem to be a few vermin roaming aimlessly here, barely alive and in apparently terrible condition near complete desiccation and baldness.
At the far end of the hall you can see a slope upwards into an even more well lit area.

Examine the gibbets and look in all the cells.

Examining the gibbets; fortunately many of these metal cages for hanging criminals for punishment are empty, but not all. Skeletal remains of humans and former humans inside them show that these were definitely in use.
You look in all the cells; a few are collapsed entirely being filled with stone rubble and earth and the ones that are not are home to more hollowed vermin and colonies of white fruiting mushrooms in bloom.

Lets grab a femur from one of the corpses, then head towards the exit.

You grab up some random femur and drag it off towards the exit.

Looking out of the hallway you see the light is coming from a raised brazier in the middle of this room, from which harsh shadows cast onto the ceiling from the currently unoccupied cage hung above the fire.
This seems an abandoned workshop of a torturer as bloodied machines for such lay idle throughout the large room.
You see what seems like tiny lit candles, no more than the smallest of flames strewn about on the ground, and you swear they are extinguishing and igniting in new places.
This room seems to be at least devoid of any hollow vermin or human corpses.
Off the walls of the torture room you see many closed wood plank doors and take notice the hall you came from has one in an open state.

At the far side of the room looks to be another open doored hallway, where the majority of the tiny flames here flicker in and out dancing nearby.

I guess we're to small the use a femur as a weapon, so lets drop the femur and go towards the tiny flames and see what they're about.

Also I have a feeling its going to turn out we're a rat.

You drop the femur and go towards the tiny flames, they flicker in and out constantly and examining a few you see they contain some sort of messages; "Here!", "Good Luck", "Weakness:Eliminating one at a time", "Need Miracles", "Boss?, "Be wary of Pincer attack", "Try Fall"...

You twitch your whiskers, what could it all mean.
