"At least it isn't a dragon, right?" Delwyn called over to Kaya (as bits of automaton flew from the alleyway that Mordecai had entered).

"And ugh, here" - she winced as the lattice began to unfold out of her halo with that unpleasant sensation it always had, like having a tape measure extended from inside her - "we'd better make sure holding down this side doesn't turn into a big hassle."

"Just don't you go running off too."

In the heat of battle with everyone splitting up, it was clear to Arnett and anyone unfortunate (for Arnett) to have been watching him that he had no clue what he was doing. Clutching his paintbrush tightly as he watched the large winged beast slowly approach, he attempted to run. However, it didn't take long until he was out of breath and had to stop to catch it— even while panic was setting in that the beast was going to tear into him without him even having been able to actually do anything.

Lin took a deep breath, glancing over her shoulder. She looked briefly at Kruger, then sought Orrel's gaze, giving him a small, but sharp nod before proceeding. The Belgor exhaled, and with the exhalation came an oppressive, torrid heat, as if the area near her had been dropped into the heart of a volcano. The heat lessened after a moment around her compatriots (and the villager they had been tasked with "rescuing,) but only enough to be bearable. Sweat began to bead on her own head as she strode forward, but something about Sieglinde's posture was somehow more relaxed than it had been before - up until she hurled her axe at the great mechanical beast.

Mus'ad frowns as the giant Automata activates. His eyes flash gold as he focuses on the machine, before he nods and looks to Reeve.
"Yell your intent, the Camazotz will dive for you and that'll be when you strike! And uh... take care please. It'd be a shame if you got hurt."
Preform Reeve and guarantee her attack on the giant Camazotz with WHEEL OF FORTUNE.

"Your concern is noted, but don't worry. I'd hardly let a replica even tarnish my cloak, let alone seriously wound me" Reeve replied in an amused tone, but nonetheless nodded as she began running into the few trees ahead, coming to a stop in the shelter they provided, and clearing her throat to bring attention to herself,

"Hear my voice, False Fiend of Camazotz! Today, I shall grant your autonomous life a gift many shall witness, yet few ever gain! Allow my holy flames to burn away your meaningless existence, and praise the fates for attaining the honor of being part of my great legend!" Reeve shouted, largely ignoring her actual target as she flourished her hand, a ball of flame appearing in her palm as she did so and quickly growing in size,

"Now, embrace this gift of mine with open arms... Er, wings! Taste but a fraction of the power possessed by I, the great Angel of Flame!"

The intense heat radiating off Lin reduces the gently falling rain to steam, humidifying the previously cool and light air around her. The heat even draws the attention of the Camazotz automaton, which turns to her, readying up a blast of dark magic- presumably the best way the professors to emulate the ruinous magic associated with Camazotz-type fiends - within its cavernous false maw. Lin's axe almost severs the Camazotz's wing, a mechanical screech emerging from its maw as blasts of dark magic hurl Lin to the ground in retaliation.

He had known that only sending two people to deal with the giant automaton was a risk. But realistically, that was a risk he knew they would have to take in the future. Their goal was to rescue the villagers. If it was a real fiend they were facing, their choice would be the same. Villages can be replaced. Villagers were more precious.

But he didn't expect the speed the giant automaton could bring. Lin was knocked down, leaving only Reeve... A healer was nearby, Lin would be fine. And the damage she had dome meant Reeve should be ok but... His thoughts were interrupted by the large blast of fire that knocked the giant bat out of the sky. Good. Kaya could pick Lin up soon and they could focus on the remaining enemies. With a wave to Vicky to follow him, he dashed towards one of the remaining villagers, taking a swig of his vuln as he did.

Kruger has observed how Orrel's plan unfolded, and he is pleased with the outcome. Orrel definitely has talent as a tactician.

During all that, he notices Arnett getting closer to both him and the south-eastern group of Rika and Cattleya. For all the fear he had, he isn't running away from the two fronts where the fights are the hardest right now, and he was willing to be a bit too close for comfort to the big one that, luckily, has fallen to the power of coordinated efforts.
Obviously though, his first priority was to be overwhelmed and still let himself get led by fear. He cannot praise him completely... yet.

"Arnett! Hold your flight, and observe why I commend you on having chosen such a favorable position for a healer like you!"
"Hopefully the knowledge that you now have to decide which of the two fronts you want to support and which of the fronts you have to temporarily abandon will not burden you."

That was Arnett's true test in his mind. Even though he spoke of abandonment, if the younger Sokolov can hold himself together and realize that he's not the only healer nearby that can take care of frontline curative duties, he will learn decisiveness and become better as a frontline medic.
If he cannot, then so be it.

Kruger does not intend to make the decision easy for Arnett and walks forward with drawn blade, glancing to the one acting as a villager near him.

"I promise to keep you safe to the best of my abilities, until the rest of my group catches up."

N-11, attack Ungoliant G.

Mordecai ducked as a chunk of automaton went whizzing by at what felt like (but probably wasn't) a hair's breadth away. When he looked up again, he saw the strange patterns that his companion's halo made whenever she activated her Arte arcing towards the remaining fiends.

: "Don't worry, I have no intention of running off." Especially now that the giant bat was going down in a gout of flames; Reeve's work probably.

"Good, because I'm volunteering you instead of me for getting-smacked-by-automaton duty," Delwyn said lightly, hanging back behind him. Her halo gridlines continued spreading at random, loosely controlled, giving Mordecai just wide enough of a berth to be mobile while choking off most easy approaches towards him.

"And also this doesn't reach that far."
