Is it predominantly performed by one particular sex?

Does it involve video games?
I don't think they had those in Athens.

Would it be included within the modern day concept of “Fine Arts”?

Lets use the ancient naval art of training war parrots. No one will realize they have been boarded by space war parrots until it is to late!
You can fake being able to run on water. You can't fake looking cool when you break your foot on a door and hit your head on the floor.

Does the audience (by which I mean, the people to be entertained by this entertainment) usually consist of children?

Is it clowns?

We have a winner! It was clowns!

What did you guys think of my word choice? Was it clever? Was it obtuse? I was surprised by how often you guys would ask a question where the answer was technically yes, but it would send you in the wrong direction regardless. The ancient Athens question comes to mind.

For the records, clowns famously go to Clown College.

Is it an animal?

Why would that send me in the wrong direction? It seemed like a reasonable question.

For the records, clowns famously go to Clown College.

I did some research on that, and though there was a clown college, it was more of an experimental idea and the institution didn’t stay in business very long. If Wikipedia is to be trusted, most clowns go to a more general circus school, which also offers programs in things like acrobatics. Probably lion taming too.

Clowning is a skilled trade like plumbing. You don’t get degrees for those. Whenever I heard of references to clown college, I always assumed it was a joke based on the juxtaposition of a silly clown and a posh post-secondary institution. My research supports that interpretation.

Is it tangible?
