Under normal operation, is the sound usually perceived as a continuous noise (like previously mentioned fans and refrigerator hums), considered as opposed [since this is a yes-or-no question I'm just giving examples to clarify what would be 'nos'] to discrete individual events like a door slam as well as ongoing noises perceived as a discrete series like ticking or dripping?

Similar to this one:

Is the sound consistent? (i.e., a door slam is random throughout the day but a refrigerator hum is consistently the same.)

So it's a continuous, reliable noise, generated by a mechanism, sometimes electronic in nature, a human could probably make it with their body if they really tried, it's not made by an animal, and it's not high pitched, alarming, or loud. The name of the sound sounds like itself (bang, woof, etc), and it is sometimes heard outside.

Is it a clock ticking?
