Well that is interesting..

"Not to put too fine a point on that lesson, but they do have to come in at some point to question our group. I'd suggest just waiting if you plan to escape. Though I wonder how magical effects would be handled."

The cat rolled his eyes at the tiny gunner’s attempt to spook him with a gun shot. Then a curious idea popped into his head. Weapons can’t be unsheathed in this cell but does it stop the creation of weapons themselves? It couldn’t hurt to try anyways, so the cat decided to attempt to forge his ice dagger from last night. What’s the worst that could happen?

Surprisingly, given how many magical restrictions the cell already had, Ivoh'to was nonetheless able to conjure the same dagger of ice as before.

When Viverna and Claus returned to the door that the Lucid Crystal was taken to, they learned that the door, unsurprisingly, was locked. It was just at that moment when footsteps started approaching the narrow corridor!

With the knife forming neatly in front of him cat grew a sinister smirk, "Heh, nice. With this we may have a chance after all." Seeing an open spot in the floor in the middle of the group with no other cell mates in the way, he launches the dagger straight towards the spot. It slides right into the ground with a SHINK.

"Alright listen up, I have an idea of how we can all escape here but you're going to have to trust me. First of all, lets list off what we all know. Guards come in groups of four with only one key which is only active from anywhere to lets say half-an-hour to two hours. No one can come in or out without using that enchanted key without setting everything off. Sooooo, lets say if some prisoners were causing a commotion in their cells. When the four guards come in to stop it, only a max of three could come in while the fourth stays outside with the key. Lets say those prisoners were us, I'll hide above door and after all three come in and take out the guard staying outside. He'll probably feel safe enough up there to make a sneak attack easy to pull off. Afterwards I'll snag his key and toss his weapon down into cell along with his body and finally close the cell door to make sure the ticking doesn't set off the alarm. Depending on what weapon he has on him, whoever can use it will help me take out the other three. However, everyone else without a weapon will have to keep the third guard distracted long enough while take out the other two. Probably through a dog pile of sorts or some sort of restraining maneuver. Once all the guards are taken out we can distribute their weapons among ourselves. Finally, we can either unlock the cell once more with the key and all leave at once with only a few of us armed or I and maybe one or two others could put on a guard uniform and search for not only the armory but also where the little gem boy held. They'll grab the boy and also weapons for the rest of the people in the cell."

"This plan is nothing if not risky but if we want to make sure to escape before the boy is taken away the sooner the better. Either way, how does everyone feel about this?"

"It's time for whatever excuses you have invented, unless we can open this now." Her voice was level and calm as always, but there was an unmistakable edge of concern. "What is your plan?"

"That plan would require some of us being left behind with the guards, three of us if there will be four guards. Whoever gets left behind would most likely be treated harshly by the guards, more harsh than before."

Claus's ear twitched upon hearing the footsteps, putting on his thinking face for a brief moment before suddenly grabbing Viverna's arm and guiding her around the corner, putting his voice to a low whisper.

"This is a hallway, if they're just passing by they won't notice us and if they do pass by they can't really fault us for hanging about."

It was just their luck, as whoever it was that passed them, this wizard wasn't all too keen with their surroundings! They passed them by with nary a look, and left the door half-open at that! But if anyone else were in that room, surely they'd notice it half-open as well, so who knew how long it would remain unlocked!

"Excellent starting point, feline, if there's a third person here willing to stay behind, but... don't be disappointed when they send many more than four soldiers to Chamber 53. It has... something of a reputation." The old woman seemed to hesitate, almost as if she wasn't fond of the details. She could no longer be mistaken for a corpse, as one could sense the turmoil in the air. Turmoil concerning multiple subjects, perhaps even.
"Despite my better judgment, I cannot help but pry into your affairs. You said that a boy was possessed by a 'crystal', yes? Could you tell anything about the spirit?"

"All I know is that the Lucid Crystal took possession of the boy, but apparently for self-preservation purposes only. They also seem to possess curative powers, as I doubt the young boy would have remained within Cadin if they would possess such magical talent."
"That is pretty much all I could observe from the short time with him... Maybe the fact that the crystal was of red tint could be worth mentioning, but other than that..."

"There we go, nothing to worry about. And how convenient for us— he clumsily left the door open."

Hurrying a bit ahead of Viverna, Claus peered through the door, before completely entering it... and leaving the door open so that they didn't accidentally get locked in.

"Mm." Viverna neglected to give a true verbal response as she followed after Claus closely. Unlike the more excitable mage, she turned to look at the door behind them, and made a quick attempt at determining how it locked. If it was possible to pull it closed without it locking from the outside, she would do so, before turning back to Claus once more.

"I had hoped you would be able to narrow the possibilities. Some protective spirit, certainly, but..."
The room Claus peered into was filled with rows and rows of large glass tubes all across, each atop a black stone pedestal. Though it was hard to gather details at a quick glance (the fortress was as reliant on personal torch spells as ever), around a third of them seemed to contain what looked to be arcane lights of some sort, all vastly different sizes, but none of them emanating any ambient light.
"...if old, old rumors serve well, many spirits, perhaps even gods, have been taken here, from all over Corothis. At this point, from Surth as well. All to be bound, and sent out throughout Coris. To power the Empire, to power the war engine."
"I would not be surprised if even these cells were watched over by one or more of these defiled spirits."
"Not that this matters to any of us. Even if the rumors are true, it would all be a closely held Empire secret. No one willing or able to tell has been able to find a single room where they're held."
"I was simply curious if they had stolen another local spirit, nothing more."

Claus and Viverna struggled to make out much at first, but in the back of the room, beyond all the glass, they could see a small figure, magically bound against a chair and surrounded by a handful of wizards.

"...possibly think we can- huh?"

Upon the students' entry, at least two of them seemed to notice something unexpected entering, and began to turn around to look!

Thankfully for Claus, he was quite perceptive and noticed the strange black stone pedestals with glass tubes— the second he had noticed that they may have been spotted, Claus hurriedly ushered Viverna behind a pedestal. It shouldn't have been too hard to be sneaky about it— the atmosphere was certainly strange and dark enough.

With that, Claus lowered his voice to Viverna after noticing he might have been a bit pushy or forceful... like he could do much compared to Viverna's height.

"Sorry."

Viverna spared a moment to glance at Claus with some confusion before continuing to stare straight towards the wizards, regardless of any impediments to her actual vision of them. The tall woman's posture was tense and rigid, as if she expected them to leap at her and murder her immediately.

: "They seemed to be rather desperate to escape Corys at the time, kept talking about how they could not survive without the boy's light any more, but I'm afraid that's all I can say about the crystal."

: "And if the rest of you are planning to escape from this prison, then I'll be the third man in the room. If I am to die here, at the very least I can spare my family from further shame and dishonor by dying a warrior's death."
