Pause function broken?
« on: June 06, 2020, 05:44:19 pm »

My Fortress has recently become frozen in a state of being paused--whenever I load it up and initially hit SPACE to go from the "Resume/One-Step" mode to "Pause", it gets stuck on "Resume/One-Step" and essentially freezes the fortress. I'm still able to move around and interact with things such as the stocks, units and designate jobs, but whenever I press the SPACE key to get back into real time, it immediately flickers back to the paused state and nothing moves. Current population for my fortress is 139 dwarves, 35 livestock, and 50 other units--most of the latter being merchants who recently arrived. Thought I'm not sure if the problem originated with them as they've been around for a bit of time without issue.

I would check these three things:
- is the keyboard's spacebar is sticky?
- was the data/init/interface.txt modified? (this is where the spacebar is bound to the D_PAUSE event)
- was data/init/announcements.txt modified? (it might be possible to have an event pause the game but not produce a screen message or to zoom to the location...)

There is something to be said about, if the stakes are as high, maybe reconsider your certitudes. One has to be aggressively allistic to feel entitled to be able to trust. But it won't happen to me, my bit doesn't count etc etc... Just saying, after my recent experiences I couldn't trust the public if I wanted to. People got their risk assessment neurons rotten and replaced with game theory. Folks walk around like fat turkeys taunting the world to slaughter them.

Sticky keys are off on the spacebar
D_PAUSE is bound to "Space" and as "NOT_REPEAT"
And the announcements folder hasn't been modified, it seems to be an issue only particular to that save--there might be something in the save folder itself causing this to happen.

An upload of the actual raw file with all the savegame information on it--I'm only unable to resume the game in realtime on this specific save, so it's probably something to do with the actual files in the raws. I wouldn't know anything about it, sadly, so if anyone wants to help, feel free to do so with the link provided!
