Hmm .. the Steam page for Antimatter now shows "This item is currently unavailable in your region" ... does anyone know why?

Edited, because I forgot ... I'm in Germany.

Seems to be working fine for me - it even had some new updates that geoffroypir hasn't graced this topic with.

Edit: I'm in the USA, so it's probably a regional thing; although I couldn't guess why.

It's working just fine here in the Netherlands as well.

I think I found out why, it is described in this post:

https://steamcommunity.com/groups/steamworks/announcements/detail/4678768276768588864

Every game now requires an age rating before being sold in Germany. Apparently, Steam also applies that for games not yet released that have a Steam page.
The developer just needs to fill out a form describing the game elements in a link in the above post, and everything should be fine.

Hey everyone,
It has been a while since I have posted on this thread. Here a recap on what was going on since :

Devlog on nukes and natives :
https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343010/view/7066794002031737104

Devlog on the endgame aspect
https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343010/view/4366887660444009235

Devlog on the military

Devlog on shipyards (and other features)
https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343010/view/658185520169354337

And since a few days I am doing multiple short thematic trailers :
Large space battle : https://youtu.be/ue91_WSTyBU (Apparently youtube like this one)
The universe : https://youtu.be/Or7J_-Qpf3U
Colony Management : https://youtu.be/RylvM20F-xU

---

I was caught off-guard with the Germany restriction thing but everything is in place since a few weeks ;)

whatever happened to the poi 2d side view tho? I'm a bit confused about that.
I is still in active dev but on a separate branch (I have sliced development into 2 branches) and I am discreet about progress for now.

I've got your channel as one of my occasional check-for-new-stuff places[1], but hadn't looked for a short while, so expect my own meagre views to add to the respective tallies, shortly. I find your developments quite interesting, and like your style of presenting them, though a bit different from others I might similarly lurk around.

I'm really quite impressed by the scope of your "everything simulator", and how you've managed to work up to this point. I suppose I must also apologise that I've never become more than a sidelines supporter. ;)

...was going to take this over to PMs (had already got part way through the cut-n-paste), but redecided that it'd be slightly more tangible support to actually reply in the open and show a bit more continuing third-party interest. Forgive the slightly less 'meant for the crowd' tone of voice that survives the transfer back again..!

It is really remarkable how you've taken a simple little 2d city game and expanded it into the universe.

That space battle video made me think, I really want to see some sort of top-down, free-panning game where the space battles take place over realistic distances rather than what would be very short range. There's a few 3D games that do it, but they're generally a bit more simmy than gamey.

I just realised I basically want someone to hybridise Starsector and The Expanse, but with battles taking place on the overworld map rather than a dedicated separate map.

With some regularity I check the Steam page to see if there's an open beta yet.
Looks like this will be a gem!

With some regularity I check the Steam page to see if there's an open beta yet.
Looks like this will be a gem!

It’s telling how we often equate a game’s potential greatness with the frequency we check for that elusive “open beta” tag on Steam. In a climate where early access and betas have become standard practice, they’re not just previews; they’re a ritual that draws the community deeper into a project’s evolving narrative. Here’s what might be happening under the hood:

Beta as Community Co-Creation

An “open beta” in today’s gaming landscape is less about offering a taste of the final product and more about forging a synergy between devs and players. Early feedback, bug reports, and enthusiasm loops from the community can drastically pivot a game’s direction—turning fans into co-creators. That’s why we check so regularly: it’s not just curiosity, but a desire to actively influence and invest in the game’s outcome.
Hype as Quality Currency

“Looks like this will be a gem!” echoes a broader phenomenon: we scout new titles partly because we relish being early adopters of a potential classic. This longing to discover the next breakout hit or sleeper gem is an emotional driver. If the devs handle their beta rollout carefully—balancing transparency with enough polish—they can stoke that excitement into a self-sustaining fan community even before official launch.
Evolving Norms of Player Agency

Betas, once a rare privilege, are now mainstream thanks to Kickstarter-era transparency and streaming culture. Gamers expect to be part of the design conversation. By revisiting a Steam page “with some regularity,” you’re essentially revalidating that tacit social contract: “We show up early, give feedback, and in return, we get a (hopefully) more refined final product.” This cyclical hype-check fosters a sense of belonging and progression.
Risk-Reward for Developers

The flip side: launching an open beta too soon can backfire if performance or core gameplay issues overshadow the potential brilliance. “Looks like this will be a gem” is thus also a bet that the dev team has enough confidence to let players peek behind the curtain. If they deliver on that promise, it can produce rave word-of-mouth. If they stumble, that precious early momentum can sour.
A Glimpse at Future Standards

As more games refine or pivot based on community-driven betas, “checking for an open beta” has become a normal part of the gamer’s routine. It signals a shift in power dynamics: players no longer passively wait for a gold-master release, but actively monitor (and shape) the game’s evolution. If this upcoming title meets the hype, it further solidifies the norm that open betas (done well) are not just a marketing tactic, but a hallmark of future-forward development.
Ultimately, the magnetism of that pending open beta—refreshed on Steam time and again—reflects our larger appetite for an interactive development process, a direct line to devs, and the thrill of glimpsing (and influencing) tomorrow’s classic before everyone else. That’s why, if and when it finally arrives, those first impressions feel so momentous—it’s not just a new game; it’s a new social and creative contract between audience and creator.

Did your account get taken over by a bot? That post is literally as long as your last 30+ posts, combined.

It's also gibberish.

No comments for 3.5 years, then that gibberish.

Little suspicious.

Well I was going to say that it might not be a bot and just some rambling about early access, but then I looked at his previous posts and it's nothing like his old posts, besides being longer than anything he previously posted it also includes capital letters and punctuation nether of which were things he used often.

This seems like the second time I've seen an old account turned into a bot on here, hopefully this doesn't become a trend.
