Hiding stones in a room
« on: May 06, 2020, 05:16:39 am »

I saw a player hiding stones  in a room for getting a clean room for placing new things in it.
Those hidden stones what do the cause ?

The dorfs stumbling around the stones and hindered by them?

Maybe you are referring to garbage dumps. You can create them with i-d and designate stones to be dumped there with k-d.
It will clean out areas and allows you to pile stones on one tile, effectively creating a "quantum stockpile". Just have a look at the wiki if you need more info.

Thanks
It is by d-b-h to hide items Buildings to get a clean layout for rooms ( no stones to see anymore on floor)
But the stones remanin still in the room i think

Removing stones with a dump, that's a good idea don't know yet if the dumped stones can be reused.

You can re-use single dumped stones via k-f to unforbid them. If you want to unforbid everything in your dump, it's d-b-c.
Keep in mind that you need to allow items from above ground via o-r-o if you want them to be included for dumping.

Given that stones don't affect movement normally, I assume hiding them doesn't either. As far as I understand it's purely cosmetic, and something I'd never do except by mistake.

There is no penalty for hiding stones. You can even go to the stockpile screen and hide all stones on your map with H.

The only time it's going to matter is when you build something there (like a bed or a workshop), in which case the dwarves will simply move the offending stones to nearby tiles.

Garbage doesn't count in DF seems , that's way there is it possible to drop all items on one tile

The stones on the floor can be hide then, if there is no penalty for movement
