-snip- All the M16s from that point on have been fantastic weapons, hence why the US still hasn't replaced them---nothing is better enough to justify all the myriad problems of replacing them.
As far as I know, it's probably due to the fact trying to replace a huge military's standard weapons platform is due to it being an expensive logistical clusterfuck that will usually not outweigh the cost for marginally better performance.

Next phase comes tomorrow.

Pretty much.

Yeah, the three dice system is an old Draig innovation that never really worked well.
It was actually a thing in Wands Race, started by Iituem (which preceded Cinder Spires).

the last update had a GM error but here's the Turn 1 Tactical Phase

Probably should just get 8, since we will be using them for the rest of our existence until we get alien technology weapons.

Buy 8, 2 goes to Light Scout, 8 goes to Normie Scout

Operation Alpha Mike Foxtrot:
Send Blackhawk-1 to Crashsite-001 with 2 Tavors and 8 equipped soldiers
Send Blackhawk-2 to Crashsite-002 with 6 Tavors and 8 equipped soldiers

After buying 8 Tavors, 2 have been assigned to the Blackhawk-001 squad, and the other 6 have been assigned to the Blackhawk-002 squad.

It is now the tactical phase. How will you accomplish both available operations? What will the strategy be? If you don't have one, your troops won't have much of a life expectancy.

We should have our guys use cover as much as possible and hit any hostiles with 40mm grenades when they first pop out, then shoot the crap out of them.

You still have to exercise restraint here.

OPLAN01: Darkening Skies
Equipment stays as presently assigned.

Crash Site 1:
Deploy full squad in Blackhawk 1, 2 with Tavors and grenades, functioning as grenadiers. Soldiers are to advance with caution to the crash site and determine what we're facing, grenades are to be employed as necessary. Priority is eliminating the enemies outside the UFO for analysis (of their remains), UFO is to be stormed if feasible after it is reached.

Crash Site 2:
Deploy full squad in Blackhawk 2, 6 soldiers with Tavors and grenades, again functioning as grenadiers. Advance with caution and aggressively clear out alien threats with force, use grenades aggressively and force their way to the UFO as fast as possible to cut off the aliens from retreat. Soldiers advance by elements under cover of a grenade barrage to force their way through the enemies, priority is to take the UFO and destruction of enemy corpses or damage to the UFO's interior is acceptable.

The unanimious voting lead to Darkening Skies being chosen. Blackhawk-001 and Blackhawk-002 are sent to Crashsite-001 and Crashsite-002 respectively.

Spoiler: Crashsite-001 Report (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Crashsite-002 Report (click to show/hide)

We have gotten 100 credits from completing 2 missions, and 50 credits from a new turn starting.

It is now the Strategy phase.

Known UFO Locations:
UFO-003: Above Middle East, very small, two very small escorts
UFO-004: Above USA, very small, no escorts
UFO-005: Above South America, very small, no escorts

Balance: 170 credits

(you can rename the two alien species encountered so far (lizardmen and greys) to something else if you want)
