Year 1 AutumntideTURNTURNTURNThe Companies flood the market with Sand, and the desperate craftsman buy all that they can. Only a few were still in business however, and their pain is soothed slightly by RiverFort LTD generously releasing Sand for free, causing the rest of the Sand to sit around until some opportunistic stock traders buy up the rest on the cheap. This surplus has pushed the price of
Sand down to 0.3 guineas per unit.

+2 FavourNot long after, the 'Laden Swallow' departs once more for the Nearsouthlands.
As the various Trade Companies consider the ramifications on their future income, a set of sails appears on the western horizon. The broad triangular sails are distinctive of Motherland vessels, and thus it can mean only one thing. The Marvelous Minnow has returned! Crowds flock to the docks to watch the brave explorers pull in, and are greeted by a concerning sight. The ship is listing slightly, there are large, hastily repaired holes in the starboard bow and there seems to be distinctly fewer crew members than when the ship left. Captain McBeardly however looks very pleased, and the moment the ship is close enough he leaps onto the pier with a heavy looking satchel and heads straight to the palace.
The stories from the crew explain the damage the ship has suffered. They were hit by a number of storms as they charted their way across the Sea, and almost ran aground on sandbanks near the coast of
Westonia. This new land is inhabited by dirty white-skinned peoples, who make their homes in the sides of cliffs and mountains. This is corroborated by the news from the palace later that afternoon, as heralds announce the discovery of a new source of
Copper across the Western Sea, the samples brought back are of excellent purity, and a whole unit would sell for
1 Guinea. Captain McBeardly reckons it would take three months for a round trip.
In other news, the lumber yards have started to refill thanks to the efforts of our wood cutters, dropping
Lumber down to 0.5 Guineas each. This thus drops the cost of a ship back to 10 Guineas.
