Plump helmet man?
« on: April 17, 2020, 02:48:17 pm »

Hi, guys! A simple question: how can I use the plump helmet man's flesh? I know that it can be brewed, but I send the butcher and the meat just rot in refuse stockpile. How is the process?

Thank you!

You probably confuse Plum Helmet MAN with Plump Helmet. The former is a sapient mushroom creature (that's mute), while the latter is a mushroom crop that can be brewed, eaten raw, and cooked. Dorfs don't eat flesh from sapients.

Plump helmet men are made from a special "plump helmet man tissue" which, although it is derived from the standard Plant material template (and can be eaten raw or cooked by entities with the correct ethics), is not brewable.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Ok, so how I make them eat that? I have like twenty of them and I want to see if the have any use.

Dwarves don't eat, drink or make stuff out of the body parts of sapients. So you can't.

And there's a bug so that even if you mod that part of their ethics to be more like an Elf, they won't do it anyway.

If it works as with other sapients, it ought to be possible to kill them, have a necromancer raise them, and kill them again. Re-killed undead from former sapients are not considered to be sapients by DF, but I wouldn't be surprised if they won't be butchered anyway (zombies corpses of former sapients aren't butchered in the normal case). That last part might be possible to overcome with some raw hacking (a guess on my part, as I don't know the parts that would be involved). Some non sapients are not butchered either.
