I would prefer a wife from a neighbor who we could ally with, but I doubt a newly crowned usurper king like us would merit such an alliance.

Shoring up our existing internal allies would be wise then.

Also I think the ties have always been a good indication that this form and your story telling allows a degree of freedom to the posters.  There is a level of trust that we have the freedom to choose and there aren't hidden dangers and such that would railroad behavior.
