Really, you defend the central area, but leave your shore undefended. When that area was of less value than your shore. I'll say something similar of taking 78. At this point, not much left to do, yeah? You happen to be stuck in the same position I was in England of having an ever decreasing amount of Grain from taking already conquered areas.

Two invasions for 12 Grain, 7 less than you have in stock. Capture 38 and 41 while NQH isn't looking. Guy is about to have his own problems to the south, and you'd actually survive.

As an additive, you were smack dab n the middle of four of my territories. And you only tried to conquer one of them? My Grain was not unlimited, but now it is compared to what you can bring.
