Sounds nice prefer this map compared to old ones since we get room to grow aswell as both good amount of land and sea battles. Are governments types going to be same or messed with since Im sure this one givening good feedback on it.

Moutainous States:
There are 3 'special' Mountainous States, which are hard to conquer (+3 Grain when Defending), and their soil is difficult to cultivate (7/5 Grain needed to Invest (normal/Plutocracy)).

Mountainous States are signified by a small 'mountains' icon. These states are Raetia (47), Dalmatia (78) and Caucassia (87).

Technologies:
The first time your Grain Income from Provinces exceeds 33, and then 75, you're elligible to pick a Technology (you will be informed when this becomes available).

Choose your techs well! You cannot exchange them and you can have a grand total of 2 of them.

Architecture: +3 Grain when Defending.
Bureaucracy: +5 Grain; +10 if you're an Empire.
Ironworking: +2 Grain when Attacking/Defending.
Mercantilism: +2 max.Trade Routes.
Thalassocracy: +1 Sea Attack range; cost of Sea Preparations reduced by 2.

So im guessing mountain provinces will be selectable but downside is they cost more to invest in. Not bad iron works seem very strong though.

Architecture could use +4 Defense to make it better than picking ironworking, which gives +2 to each.

Ironworking would be nice to have for Conquest this game, in being able to crush NG with even more ease..

CULT WORSHIP:

In the ancient times, there was no victory without favor of the gods, no good harvest without blessing of the heavens, no peace amongst the peoples without the divine justice.

To worship a Deity, you must deliver Grain upon their altars. 1 Grain equals 4% Deity Worship.

At start of a Turn, if your Deity Worship is at 100% or more, the Deity's blessing triggers, and you lose all of accumulated Deity Worship.

The Blessing's benefits are made during the Turn in which it was triggered, plus the 2 subsequent Turns.

Switching the Deity you worship resets Deity Worship percentage to 0%.

Deities and Blessings:

Creator Deity: +8 Grain bonus.
Deity of Commerce: Your Trade Routes grant you +6 Grain each. Your trading partners are NOT affected.
Deity of Love: Captured Provinces are pillaged for only 1/4 of their Grain, instead of the usual 1/2.
Deity of the Sea: Enemies attacking you via Sea(s) receive -2 to their Attack rolls, and your Sea Preparations cost 2 Grain less.
Deity of War: +1 to Attack/Defense rolls.
Fertility Deity: Four random Provinces under your control have their Grain output improved by 1 (e.g as if 5 Grain was invested into them previous Turn).
Mother Goddess: +2 to Defense rolls.
Sky Deity: Permament +1% increase of Deity Worship from each Grain.
Solar God: +2 to Attack rolls.

Proposal for 710BC-2:

Semi-historical setup; you can only choose Martial Roma (red), Maritime Cartago (white), Oligarchic Macedonia (cyan), Plutocratic Athens (teal), Martial Sparta (orange), Oligarchic Men-Nefer (yellow), Maritime Phoenicia (that lavender thingy color), Oligarchic Assyria (silver) or Oligarchic Babilon (purple).

That would create Roma-Carthago power struggle (separated only by Sardinia/Sicily island access), Macedonia-Athens-Sparta careful cold war status (with Athens having the unfortunate distinction of being just 1 sea attack away from both) and Babilon-Assyria paranoiafest (they would start as direct land neighbours). Meanwhile, Men-Nefer would end landlocked for at least 1-2 turns, while Phoenicia would need to establish its network quickly before dust settles in Mesopotamia.

I get the tense appeal of starting players being next to each other, though I suspect that half of all players that start adjacent or sea-adjacent to another player won't last to see the 3rd turn.

Of that map Cartgo gets best positions, rest would end from 10 to 4-5 easily by turn 3.

Edit: Ah I see their Martime nations would be in nice position to play kingmaker, Athens, Sparta, Macadonia would probally need Phoenicia help.
