I think alot of you are forgetting that this game is in ALPHA.  The only people who should be playing the game right now are poeople who are dedicated to finding bugs and reporting them and people who want to make suggestions to improve things.  If you want to play it cause you like it great, enjoy.  But don't complain about not having graphics when the game is not anywhere near the stage where it should be thinking about them.  Alpha is for bug squashing and implementing core game play elements PERIOD. When we get to Beta, maybe we can start thinking about graphics.

But I'm going to decline it.  Because my earlier post may have entirely missed the point!

It may be a deliberate act on Toady's part to keep player numbers relatively small.  Consider:  The more players, the more load on the forums, the more requests for assistance, the more suggestions (all of which take time to read and consider), and the more bug reports (essential, but again time-consuming to process very many).  If Toady only spends minimal time on the interface or guides or new player aids, then this very lack of approachability will also help him avoid spending time managing a very large player base.  For a game in alpha, coded by essentially a one-person outfit, undergoing root-and-branch development, this might make perfect sense.

So:  If this IS true, then scratch everything I ever said about interface!

And income-wise, when you're a single coder working on the game you don't have to have that many paying customers to make a living. This means you can probably focus on doing what you want for a niche audience than trying to please a larger audience.

May or may not be true, but it makes sense to me.

Yea, Toady shouldn't do interface even if it was FASTER than going whit ASCII, because it would ruin the only place on the planet were the majority actually is INTELLIGENT.

That would be why said majority strings together image macros and frequently posts silly things, right?

???
I was saying that this forum is the only place I know, on the net or in RL, that actually consist of mostly intelligent and interesting peaple. If the player base grew and everyone came here that would change, and then... it would be easier if you just shoot me. I have at no occasion met a equal outside this forum, and here half of peaple are as smart as me, or even smarter.

Goddamn.

When people call you "Mature for your age" what it actually means is that you are an antisocial asshole who uses your "incredible intellect" as an excuse to feel better then everybody else. The reason you have no friends in RL (fuck!) is because you never skip a chance to prove how much smarter you are. And yet you still can't spell people right.

Seriously, I used to be just like you. Then I realized something amazing. (Trust me you won't believe this one!) Those idiots you go to school with? Yeah, they're actually kind of cool to hang around with once you get to know them.

And the reason you do bad in school isn't because you're "too smart" it's because you're a lazy ass who only bothers to work when it suits him.

You aren't funny BTW.

Well, I don't know what it is Armok age, but I was like him when young. I would like that someone tell me what Zonhin wrote, because it's true.
