I think that just doing some light shading for corridors on the level above and below current would help. Just offset the coolors of the blocks slightly  maybe brighter for the ones above and darker for the corridors below.

It would be nice if you could rotate the view 90 degrees and be able to view slice by slice in the XZ plane in addition to XY we would normally have.
