I'm checked out on this succession, but isn't that going a bit too far?

Hmnm?

Ah yes, I did consider that possibility for a moment. Hence why none of the world's units will be turned into actual raccoons, minus a couple of the former dwarves in this particular fort I'm running.
History has been doctored such that the historical figures are now referred to as having been raccoons. But there are no actual raccoons. In fact, it appears prior to my tinkering, raccoons had gone extinct in this save. So we corrected that. They should be the most numerous animal at this point. If anything, I haven't gone far enough. You can even still index and search for the renamed sites and civs by their former names, since I nicknamed them instead of changing the actual names.

We might occasionally get world automation to spawn a historical figure raccoons to take over a local town or village, since human civs are now actual "raccoon civs", but like, whatever. Save file stability remains nominal (by this save's standards, anyway). So, I think we're keeping it? A couple towns have nicknames to make them sound more "raccoony." But other than that, and the anti-rapture, everything's fine.

In other news, working on building a space station. Currently, we have a tavern located right under where we plan to ramp up into space, in the middle of our space bridge.

That's a lot of huge game changes to be sprung upon us! Not a huge fan of not having any notice

Feel like we should go ahead and have the apocalypse before nuclear radiation from the sun tampering does it for us lol

I mean uhh... You should probably consider it an investment this time around. It is not clear on whether there can be another.

Man, even the human bone artifact weapons have been turned into raccoon bone weapons. Which is rather surprising, honestly.

Apologies for the double post just now, but I thought this was pretty funny.

Here's the save. Kesperan you're up! Ain't no way this save is surviving another 5 days with me.

Its fine, my main adventure for this turn got badoozled by Weenie, twice. So that, ended things. I was hunting black mambas for dinner both times, and the dragon bear thought it would help. First time, I managed to jump myself over to a nearby stagnant pool of pond water, where I was able to splash around to douse the flames. The second time, however, my axe exploded.

Hold on, why did you replace an entire human civ with raccoons? I feel like this is not okay.

You can't even play as the raccoons...

Sure you can. Hell, they can even mint their own currency, although not too sure how they manage do that with their wittle paws.

Since I'm ending my turn early, why don't you pick up where you left off?
Do that thing that lets you play as a human civ, and see how an embark goes with 7 raccoons.

I give you:  The Doom of Men -- Do you really want to rewind the clock here?
I mean, look at em', with their fuzzy wittle cheeks. They're adorable.

If people really want to rewind, thats fine, I suppose. I, for one, however, favor the inclusion of our new and very special friends, the raccoons.

I'm back and have updated some posts.
Sorry for not being around for way too long, I indeed got burned out a bit on Dwarf Fortress.

A lot seems to have happened with the game in the meantime.

Even though I'm in awe of Dikbutdagrate's Dfhack skills I would say we rewind this one.
I'd like to keep the game somewhat playable, and this type of broad hacking that affects the entire world will mess with other peoples characters and plans.
Also, several people have indicated it's gone a bit too far.
It seems  Avolitionbrits 100 year time jump was reverted for similar reasons while I was away.

HA! I had nearly declared that the Pact & Order of Bralbaard had all but faded from the world, its power now sorely diminished in the King's absence, providing its sanctity merely over site of the Museum proper, and having very little sway over the events which pertain to rest of the world.

I was trying to come up with ways of getting Erik Blank to get into theatrical dialogue about the improbability of there being an actual Return of the King. And to then use this somehow as justification for this "natural progression" of the save, wherein, our special friends, the generalist scavenger raccoons now come into to their inheritance over the Earth. Maybe even edit in a scroll or codex or two that includes this as a description of prophecy. And if that didn't pan out, the final plan of attack was to just point everyone to the new Legends mode, and make the claim that the save has just always been this way.

Its great to see you're still alive! Or that an impersonator, who may have somehow gained control of your account, types enough like you. Highly suspect, this "Bralbaard."

Like legit, I felt bad for awhile that Honeyhammer was responsible for slaying your Gremlin. I even brought em' back, and think I tied their soul to a Roc? Actually, maybe that didn't pan out. I think I had rewind the save due to stuff that happened earlier with AvolitionBrit's time traveling escapade. And that soul business is fucking messy. I just didn't have the time to do all of it again.

But yeah, if Bralbaard saids to rewind, then rewound it shall be. I alone shall mourn for our special little cookie bandit allies.

I can always rebuild the start of the space bridge again later (T_T )

edit: I wish I had taken a screenshot of one of the repossessed human taverns, ideally one which had been entirely overrun by the new procedurally generated raccoons. Seeing them scurry over the tables and then put their curious_drinker/eater habits on full display by pulling the food/drink out of the tavern's barrels and then scurry off with their pillaged goods, would have been absolutely magnificent.

Welcome back, Bralbaard!

I have to agree, dikbutdagrate's changes are funny in a vacuum, but I don't see how playing Racoon Fortress would be sustainable. Plus, I like the world still having classical civilizations.

Ah, Bralbaard, if you haven't skimmed the thread, one of the most important events was Anti-Rapture, also by dik. The short of it is, about half of Orid Xem's dead are returned to "life". You can't meet them in adventure mode, but some of them do come dying, bodiless to your fort and you can heal them with dfhack if you want to keep them. They continue existing "offscreen" and a lot of civilizations used that excuse to have a LOT of battles in 1129.

It's kesperan's turn, did anyone sent him a message? I haven't seen him in the thread lately.

I've skimmed the thread, yes. I understand the climate has gone mad too? I hope it is still playable without dfhack.

I have send Kesperan a message. And before I forget, thanks everyone for keeping this thing running!

Ah am I glad to see you back!

There should be a reasonably accurate turn list a few pages back. I don’t think there have been a huge number of submissions to the museum when you’re away. Mostly just folks trying to deal with the anti-rapture and climate change, and time skips, and raccoons it seems.

I remember when the oddest thing in Orid Xem was the lesbian cyclops angels and the incest scorpions…

I haven’t posted my last adventurers turn yet and I’d like to do that before my next turn. In any case I won’t be able to start until at least Monday due to other commitments.

If someone else wants to take a turn now I’m fine with that otherwise I’ll start next week.
