Whenever I take over the save I have to restore the default raws so I can reinstall the graphics pack that I prefer.

That means tweaking the raws again to allow dwarf outsiders etc.

I’ve never had the option to play as humans or elves in fort mode.

Sorry for the late reply, but I finally understood your last line. I think I read it wrong the first time and glossed over it.

This is with the linked raws on the time-skipped turn. As you can see on the left, with those raws you can embark as any of the human civilizations (though not as elves or goblins). On the right is my last human fortress, made by a group of Omon Obin, that I can unretire with those raws. When the raws get borked, those human forts do not appear in the unretire screen anymore.

I think the problem here is installation of graphics packs.

If you use LNP as I do, you can’t install for example the Phoebus tile set over modded raws. So I always delete the raws, copy vanilla raws over, then change graphics packs and then change raws again to make playing dwarves available again in adventure mode.

I’ve not experienced any issues with diacritics or the vanilla raws being problematic,  it because I reinstall the raws I don’t get the modifications to allow human civ.

Aaaaaaaaanyway, how’s the turn coming along Avo?

Thanks Avo.

That makes it Dikbutdagrate’s turn, if they are free? If not, it would pass to Lurker.

I hope he's free.

Avolition forgot to retire (no big deal, it happened to me too) and by Armok's axe, that's a mass grave alright.

Diacritics and playing as humans are not borked. Yay.

Ahaha, my joke fort at the edge of the world under the ocean is thriving, it has 21 inhabitants including one immortal angel. Deephalls might survive to see the end of the world. This, from what I remember, is because at one point it was the capital of Adilatír as the appointed Queen wouldn't (or couldn't) move to Ilrallenod. Not that I blame her, with the often massacres happening there. There are now two lost countesses living under the ocean. This is awesome.

The angel also now lives in... hell? Despite the fact that I never exposed it to the caverns? I love funny DF bugs.

Good luck!

Thanks!

Just booted up the save and am about to retire Avo's fort, but first I'm going to sit here and admire this place for a hot minute.

Edit: These are the swankiest bedrooms I've ever seen a fort. All of the dwarves have these?! Not sure what that's all about in the hallway though. Or why this fort evidently can't afford to hire a bookkeeper?

Oh dear. This fort is a mild breeze away from tipping over into pure absolute madness, lol.

I noticed both these things (very blinking dwarves; very blinking). The rooms look even better in Phoebus.

Did you know a fun fact? Crippled, half-dead, half-starved, blighted, one hair away from going berserk dwarves do arrive as migrants at other forts in exactly the condition they were left in the previous fort. It's always "fun" when you get one of those close to death/madness migrants.

The rooms in Falsetower are nicer than this. They always go mad, might be learning the secrets of life and death + not drinking = insane dwarves

Well, this appears to be coming along nicely.

Actually this reminds me, what was Bralbaard's Gremlin's name?
I meant to use him as the prototype for this monstrosity. Oh well, I suppose placing his soul and brain into a mandrill or something to become the fort's Eyegor works too.

WTAF.

Have you somehow resurrected the Doom of Keyconjure as a gender-confused monstrosity?

Well, that's not a very nice thing to say about ol' Fací.
But objectively? Umm... Yes.

Also, that tail with axe blade is slappin. I chopped the heads off an entire conspiracy of giant ravens earlier with that thing.
