I assumed Maloy’s untimely murder was based on werefox mischief rather than multiple counts of goblin infanticide and egregious rail safety failures, but perhaps you have a point.

I only discovered Maloy’s death on legends viewer after my turn and it definitely happened before my last adventure.

Do we need to roll back the save?

Let me check to see if I can find a corpse

I didn't find him in Ringboot, but I know sometimes corpses get dumped just outside the fortress. I remember finding some in Falsetower like that

I also visited Brimcity and spend some time in fortress mode in unretired fortresses of mine. Not sure if that is relevant.

Haven't found him yet....
I was trying to use the full-heal -r with unit id, but it seems like his unit id isn't working if he isn't present on the map? Or perhaps I am entering it wrong?

idk if anyone wants to see if they can spot my corpse and let me know where it is I'd appreciate it!

I don't mind all the losses like him losing titles and such and I hate to back up two whole turns so if possible I would love to just resurrect him. I'll roll with the weirdness if I can pull it off

I don't think it was the werebeast thing that killed me. I got two theories

1. I'm lord of like 10 different sites that all have different factions vying for it! I get attacked by almost any civ that isn't Walled Dye if I hang around long enough so it could be a case of Rith having a loyalty that made him zero in on killing me

2. Hollow Zombie Madness. Any of the guys who die in the wolf man kingdom get brought back as Hollow Zombies because I can, but I noticed a lot of them go insane after awhile and just go berserk trying to kill everything. It's possible Rith went crazy. I have had to put down several in the past.

Get dikbut on the line, we need a mysterious resurrection.

Don't all the histfigs he resurrected that show up on the playable character list crash the game?

The only circumstantial evidence I have for a werebeast related death was that the date Maloy was killed is also a full moon on the standard dwarves calendar.

Having said that, our entire planet is experiencing an ice age and the sun rises in the west, so who knows when the moon is full on Orid Xem?

I hope you can find a solution, Maloy.

No luck yet. I have posted on the dfhack megathread
also messaged dikbut

we will see if we can get the help!

I can resurrect any historical figure except for adventurers apparently

So, I can play an ettin gaunt zombie if I want to I guess? lol

Right now I am roleplaying with it. Been playing with Onul, Lythienne and Miara reacting and working in the wake of Maloy being killed and publicly impaled

Also Ringboot's standard of living is so high obesity is rampant lol
Never thought I'd see an obese angel

Just seeing this now. I'll look into as soon as I get off work.

Actually, yeah, I can manage that. But I'm going to need some stuff to make it happen. Requirements are as follows:
Like, at least 2 rats (more is better), 1 jar of sludge, and 1 pancreas + some amount of nervous system tissue of an intelligent creature (not rotten) which was less than 12 years of age. I don't really care where you get it from.
Oh, and last but not least, a volunteer - whose been cursed by a mummy.

I think if your character dies while you are controlling it, then they're dead.

If it happens to some random offscreen nonsense, I think it's fair game to use alternative means to ressurect them.

I find it odd that the body isn't there. Have you tried reclaiming the fortress he died in and searching that way?

@yeah no luck
also I was referring to the extra script for unretire-anyone I just learned yesterday

unretire-anyone -d

it adds all dead historical figures to your list to choose from so I could play anything that has died....except for dead adventurers for some reason?

@dikbutdagrate
I will actually get all those things lol
Jar of sludge I'm not sure how to do, but I like how literally every other thing on that list is findable in dwarf fortress lol its a wild game

The -d stands for "dikbut" (nah, it stands for dead. I didn't choose the flag character designation) I actually wrote the original version of that additional support a few years ago for DFhack whatever version - for 47.05, but it was pretty whacky. Someone came in and fixed it (something about souls), ostensibly? Possibly created that bug you're referring to. The .5 plus version is entirely original though. Again, I am just a perpetually bemused tourist when it comes to programming, but every once in a while, I'll bother to produce something that is at least sort of kind of useful. Or spend an entire day debugging one script, so that'll produce vermin correctly.

That's awesome! Hell yeah getting that stuff. About the ooze, yeah, idk. Something slushy or pustulent.

Sludge can rain down in evil areas in DF sometimes, and carry nasty syndromes. Not aware of any areas in Orid Xem that have that though...

Really? That's actually rather surprising.

Maybe scratch the ooze then Maloy?
