Anyone know what words got added to DF post-2011?
« on: March 09, 2020, 07:32:26 pm »

Basically, I am trying to make a Latin language for DF. Fortunately, someone already made a language pack for DF that includes Latin. Unfortunately, it stopped being updated in 2011 and new words have been added. If someone can give me a list of words added to the game after that time, I would be able to translate the remaining ones myself, so any help in that regard would be appreciated. I tried checking the file changes txt in the main folder but I couldn't find any info there, and while I want this I definitely don't want it bad enough to go over the list of words one by one to figure out which ones are missing from the language file.

There are tools called text compare or diff tools that give varying amounts of information about the differences between two text files. Presumably, you could run those against the existing language files and fill in the gaps where necessary. Still pretty dirty and requires work, but should give you the answer you're looking for.

Tried using this. The tricky part is that since I don't have a full latin version of the modern word list to compare it too, it counts everything as different (ie if I run my latin language file against a modern elf one it doesn't tell me which words are missing because the foreign words themselves are included as being different. However, I now know that around 200 words are missing at least.

EDIT: wait no, this helps actually, I can check between vanilla versions of DF for discrepancies.
