Fullscreen Problems
« on: March 06, 2020, 03:57:09 am »

So, I finally realized fullscreen mode isn't actually just pressing the fullscreen button in windowed mode. *facepalm*

But, when I turned on fullscreen mode, it ended up like this:
I thought "oh, maybe it just picked the wrong resolution like so many other games" but that didn't work.
Any ideas?

I'm afraid that I can't help you with your actual problem, but you can use the [img width=x height=y] instead of just [img] tags to resize your images on your posts. For x,y use whatever value works best, I find that for something between 150-300 is good enough for most images.

Bring Kobold Kamp to LNP! graphics compatibility fix.

So the conclusion I'm getting here is that we use QSPs because dwarves can't pilot submarines.

I had a similar issue.

Assuming you are on windows you could try running the program troubleshooter for windows "Run programs made for older versions of windows" select DF in the list of apps, troubleshoot program > display issue > issue with large scal fonts > test & save if DF displays correctly.

Can you uh, post some pictures or something? I'm barely understanding what you are saying.

It's very easy:

Run the program troubleshooter "run programs for older versions of windows":
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Select DF:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Select troubleshoot program:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Select display issue:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Select issue with large scale fonts:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Test the program :
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

If it works, save the settings, otherwise your issue is different from mine.
Hopefully pictures help compared to just the names of what to click on ;)

*Sigh* Why did the Chinese government ban imgur?! Now I can't see pretty much all the pictures!

So I know this is probably getting annoying for you but, pic8.co, anyone?

EDIT: Alright, I did what I think you meant (My windows 10 seem to be different from everybody else's) and that fixed the problem, I think? It looks rather...empty, or stretched though.

EDITEDIT: So I just figured out why it looks empty. WHY ARE THE TEXT SO DAMN SMALL?

Alright, that worked. Thanks!

If you are using the lazy newb pack you can go to the graphics tab (where you select tilesets). You shoud have a "sub-tab" (i THINK the sub-tab is called "custom" but i am not sure and i am not currently with my personal PC).

This sub-tab allows you to choose fonts. You should have two "categories" : "FONT", and "GRAPHIC FONT". You should not touch graphic fonts (this is the tileset font) but you can change the "FONT", which is used for plain text in the game. The default font is "Curses_800x600", which appears extremely small on high res screens. I personally changed it to the largest available, which is "Curses_1920x900" and i am now able to read stuff.

Well, I solved it anyways. And no, I do not use LNP

I'm glad you solved it.

For further reference, the font settings can also be changed in the init file for people who are not using LNP.

Well, yes, I know that. But I think you are mistaken about the maximum font. There is only curses_640x300 and curses_800*600, though maybe that's because you installed LNP or something

Yes, obviously if you install DF without fonts or tilesets you then need to manually install additional fonts from https://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/Tileset_repository.
You can find the one i mentionned, as well as many other which might be more suitable for other screen res.
