"Excellent. I am Site C Autoframe, in case that was ambiguous. Earlier you expressed knowledge about the enemies you had faced thus far. I would like to inquire. The nature of our opponents will necessarily have an affect on the tactics used to defeat them, and you seem best poised to inform us on this matter, if you are willing."

"Its unfortunate that you didn't meet someone among the castle staff with any inclination to go over this with you. Not that I would trust any of them farther than I could throw them anyhow. I have several theories about the nature of what endangers this land, but for the purpose of this conversation I will skip the speculation and focus on what I have personally observed firsthand."

"First, I'll explain what you need to know about the Lockjaw, an undead entity with numerous interesting features and the most numerous of the things we have been tasked with fighting to date. The basic variant resembles the corpse of a severely malnorished human that has a big gaping mouth in place of its head with four 'teeth' protruding from it. It will typically charge straight at whoever it finds and attempt to clamp onto their head and devour them; the process being able to rapidly rejuvinate the creature. All evidence observed thus far points to them being obligate carnivores. They have the required mental capacity to hunt in packs and they have been observed to be able to identify a single enemy among a group, and I have yet to see one attempt to eat its own kin despite their seemingly single-minded desire to feed. Conventional weaponry and tactics have proven effective on them. Their physical capability is in excess of what their physical form would suggest."

"As I previously implied though, there is more than one variant of the Lockjaw which almost certainly include several that I have yet to encounter. It would be best to assume that even identical looking ones may have differences in physical capabilities as well as behaviors..."

This seems to be a topic that interests Mona.

"I doubt that the king's employees have any true experience with these creatures. If they could fight the enemy effectively, they would not need us.
It is interesting that these lockjaws exhibit such strength despite being apparently malnourished. This suggests some kind of non-biological process is at work. At least it seems that with the most common variety there is not much room for surprises. They will attack the nearest opponent out of hunger. I wonder if they will even bother to attack my chassis? It would provide no sustenance to most creatures, but clearly the lockjaws are not subject to the usual rules of biology."

"I can attest that at least one of them has experience with them. I'd also go on record saying that if they needed us then they would of course summon us... But if they summoned us then that does not necessarily mean they needed us. I suspect their true intentions are more economical in nature than they would have us believe."

"I am also in agreement that they could not be the result of biological process, or at least not that alone. Next I will discuss the '7 Days Lockjaw' variant. After going a week without eating anything, the Lockjaw will take on a different form. This 'life phase' so to speak, is far more bulky than the standard variant. Its formlimbs change to be reminiscent of legs and it switches to quadrupedal movement. The 7 Day Variant is also considerably stronger, much faster, and most disturbingly more intelligent. I have observed them put an emphasis on self-preservation, call for backup, assess enemy threats, and even make a tactical retreat. They are even capable of picking up and throwing steel barricades with their mouth."

"I will also point out that I have yet to encounter a Lockjaw that was 'between stages'. They were either the basic variant or they weren't. This suggests that the transformation takes place over a short period of time. Perhaps there's some kind of important symbology involves with a seven day period?"

"One of the ones we encountered had a sort of purple glow around its neck. For reasons I do not fully understand, this one had a resistance to psionic attacks and regarded me as the highest priority target. I'm not ruling out the possibility that someone in this town has been feeding information to them."

"Then they have a drive to consume, yet become stronger when they do not? Most paradoxical. I could draw a parallel between this and the human inclination towards greed. The accumulation of resources into one place causes the society as a whole to become weaker. At least, If the 'magic' behind this had an architect, perhaps this is why the architect designed them this way?
The Seven Days Lockjaw does seem like a priority target. I am glad that we have acquired a marksman rifle to neutralize such threats."

"Do you perhaps know where best to aim? Most bipeds are easiest dispatched by damage to the nervous and circulatory systems. Skull, spine, and heart. These creatures might not have vitals in the same areas, however."

"The Lockjaw is born from people who have died of starvation, the Lockjaw's organs would initially be in the same location. I say initially because of the drastic bodily changes that they make. I have wanted to perform an autopsy on one of them, but their corpses have an unfortunate tendency to disappear shortly after the creature expires. I wouldn't count on the skull being an easily exploitable vulnerability at the very least. If you figure out an efficient method I'd suggest it to the next person who asks."

"We may be able to use Adaptation to locate weaknesses."

Test using Adaptation. Replace the Sampler Arm with an X-ray Scanner Arm.

"I will test this on a body more expendable than yours. Radiation can cause long term health effects."

If successful with above, use the scanner on a random villager. Does it seem that I can locate vulnerable structures in their body?

Practice another dive-strike. Try to hit multiple dummies with the same strike, if possible.

At Palace

”yes, I am Shara. The shopkeeper didn’t specify what this creature was called”
Shara turns to invulchan
”i’m the plant you met earlier. I have just learned that I can control creatures. This one is bigger than me and has limbs, so I can better assist in escort. I think I should still be able to shoot thorns from my first body”

┌──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┐
   Hope

"It's called a chimera, if i recall correctly... did you get that creature from zic's place? Damn that fool. I would imagine you can shoot
thorns? You could test it in training grounds or anywhere else safe although can you please not walk around carrying that chimera thing in
the city? You're going to freak people out."

At Street

"We may be able to use Adaptation to locate weaknesses."

Test using Adaptation. Replace the Sampler Arm with an X-ray Scanner Arm.

"I will test this on a body more expendable than yours. Radiation can cause long term health effects."

If successful with above, use the scanner on a random villager. Does it seem that I can locate vulnerable structures in their body?

The drone uses scanner on random person on the street. The random person stood there motionless while glaring at the drone who was looking at him. The staring contest was beginning to get more intense. From her scanner it shows an X-ray vision where his heart and other organs located.

At Training grounds

Practice another dive-strike. Try to hit multiple dummies with the same strike, if possible.

Aethyrion took another flight and this time use all of that momentum to strike multiple foes. The damage was reduced for the other target

Dummy1 Takes [-4HP from dive strike]

Dummy2 Takes [-3HP from dive strike]

Dummy3 Takes [-2HP from dive strike]

Shara heads back to Zic’s odds
”Hello again, it turns out I do have one of those coupons you mentioned. I would like to ask about the Cursed Pendant, White elixir, and Nahut's emblem, specifically, what kind of curse is in the pendant? What does it do? What happens when people drink the white elixir? What does Nahum;s emblem do?”

"It would appear that I am able to locate enemy weak points using this arm. With any fortune it should work on the 7-days and whatever other high-priority targets we should meet."

Acquire some structural material and use my fabricator to improve my structure. (+2 HP)
"Internal structure weakened."
"Yes, a couple of the upgrades we have done made this body more vulnerable than factory standard. We should be able to counteract this, if we can source the correct materials."
"Good. I feel as squishy as a meatbag like this."

It seemed that the person that Mona accidentally hit and knocked out yesterday was not at the hospital, which she supposed was a good thing.

"You did some good work out there. If you need something to do while you rest here, I could head over to the Archives and check out a book on your behalf. Let me know if that's something you want me to do."

Mona would also ask the doctor what he knows about people dying of starvation. Evidently it must have happened to a lot of people in order to give rise to so many Lockjaws.
