Experiment visitors keep toppling buildings
« on: February 28, 2020, 11:27:58 pm »

Just had my first DF session after what feels like two or three years, really enjoying all the new things the game has to offer.
However, as soon as i opened my tavern (which i put a LOT of effort into),a very interesting visitor arrived at my fort.

The species/race name was 'Fist of something-something', can't remember correctly.
'A feathered humanoid with horns. Its black feathers are puffed out. It was created by the necromancer bla-bla-bla in a cruel experiment on the human yadda-yadda.'

'Whoa!' i thought. 'Let him in!'
He appeared as Visitor on the unit list, and i really hoped he would join my fort.
And he really wanted to get inside!

...so much so that he destroyed my wagon outside, my trade depot, a carpenters workshop, a few statues i put in my entry halls, ALL tables and chairs, and then he went off to EVERY SINGLE workshop inside my fortress.

'Dude. Not cool.' My fortress wasn't even in its second year and didn't have many dwarves (around fourteen i think?).
Really, i didn't want to kill him off, but i had no choice.
The food and alcohol supplies were low, and i didn't have doors set up to lock him out/inside smaller rooms to detain him.

So i sent the three dwarven soldiers i had + 5 fresh recruits i drafted for this guy. Not very skilled fellows, but the first three were fully decked out in copper gear at least.

Thing is, that Fist-guy was a very competent fighter himself and took out 8 dwarves by himself, only suffering one wound and few bruises. I didn't notice he was wearing bronze armor and a spear.

I was down to around six or seven dwarves, didn't want to mess with him naymore, but couldn't build any new workshops because of this guy.
It took SO FRIGGIN' LONG until he left. My alcohol rations ran out, and my poor dwarves had to drink water from a river! (-can you imagine?!)

I really don't think friendly building-destroyers should topple your buildings for no reason.
You guys have any idea how to handle a 'friendly toppler' non-violently? :(
And also, can they destroy locked doors too?

Edit: Oh, i forgot to mention; played another fort shortly after, and another experiment-guy appeared & toppled stuff early on.
I guess i should stop opening up a tavern early on.

Ironblood didn't use an axe because he needed it. He used it to be kind. And right now he wasn't being kind.

THANK GOD THE GREAT TOADY-ONE.
Nevermind this thread then.

Couldn't find anything related to this online.
