IC-Thread

The year is 2120. Mars, Luna and Earth have enjoyed years of relative peace as the big three: Japan, Germany and the Imperial Federation found their thirst for ever greater heights of power and territory quenched by the terraformation and settling of both Mars and Moon,  while the second and third-rate powers of the world were occupied with consolidating empires and territories they barely could hold together or attempting to play catch-up with the titanic economies of the three.

Unfortunately three decades of peace would end in January of 2120. Mars enters rebellion.
It begins with a mystery: 5 Prototype Blaszak platforms vanish from a Legation City laboratory on Mars.
Two weeks later widespread riots break out in every major martian city.
Within four weeks Mars is in open rebellion and the Free Martian Army takes over the leadership of the independence effort.

For the first time since the Lunar Wars 70 years back Earth would face the prospect of total war, as the powers that be could not accept this challenge to their authority, their power and most importantly their bank accounts.

How To Play, How to Join and What to Expect

This will be a Grand Strategy Nation Game. What this means is that you will be playing the nations as a whole and not single characters. This doesn't mean that you have to be a faceless government, in fact you portray the whole of your nation and RP is encouraged and necessary to breathe life into this setting. Whether it be through news articles, war stories, POV things, dossiers, basically go wild.

Much of the Game will run on GM Fiat and while i will roll a lot in the background i will not commit those rolls to paper. This has various reasons but chief among them is that i hate keeping track of things and bureaucracy (says he and makes a massive space opera with 15 nations to keep track of...) and thus it allows me to have fun as well as making the entire thing less about beating the mechanics and more about creating a story. This is in general what should be noted. Its not about winning the game here about beating some mechanics, its all about the story that is created. So if you intend to just drop off your orders and let me fluff it out, its fine, but not exactly what is intended here.

To my experience most games with grand politics will lead to players quickly trying to shank each other and rarely do they take time and build up something. As such this will be more Military-Focused from the get go.

Now how does this work?
Each of you gets 1 Domestic, 1 Production and 1 War Plan Order.

The Domestic Order allows you to give me a freeform order in regards to the politics of your country or your economy.
The Production Order allows you to queue up new Units for the War effort and
The War Plan Order is just that your War Plan for this turn.

Beyond this, each of you has a series of Research Slots, depending on the number of Research Stations you possess. Most of you have 1 or 2 Public ones while some of you may have additional secret Research Stations.

Furthermore construction of Battleships and Carriers is restricted to Orbital Stations, which you of course need to build, exemptions being Mars and Luna of course, but you get the specifics of that seperately.

Finally there is the issue of Ship and Station Positioning to be mentioned. As i will put up the initial post you will see odd descriptions next to your ships:
(L1,L2,L3,L4,L5 and NEO) as well as later more and different ones: these five Ls are the Lagrange Points of Earth and Luna as well as Near Earth Orbit and might have a large impact on strategy.

Now finally How do you join? You simply pick a nation, if you want you can write in what you intend to do with it or any fluff text or whatever makes you think might convince me to let you play them.

Warning, there is one imposition. And that is if you play Mars. The Martian Player should have some idea about the writings of Julius Evola (i do not expect you to have read deeply into him, just an idea what the man was all about and his theories) and what that means for the political ideology, cultural ideas and plans the Martians are hatching. If you play Mars you will effectively become a Mini-GM as you are working together with me to play the Antagonist to the other players. If you want to play Mars PM me as contrary to public picks for other nations.

Note that you should probably make a list of 3 or so countries since you will not necessarily get your first choice but might still want to join. If you really want to play some minor or minnow nations we can talk about it but in general i will probably say no as i have no interest of burdening the game with a nation which will have no impact.

Finally on Nation Picks: Lesser Alliance Partners and Lesser Powers are locked until the Big Three (IF, Germany and Japan) as well as Mars are filled, afterwards you can pick up the other nations.
And that is all i believe, if something is unclear or confusing feel free to ask.

Secret Research

There are secret research stations in the game, which some players possess, all otehr research projects are publicly known...these are not if you stumble upon them, the stations becoming public knowledge.

The Legation Cities
Since the Legation Cities are basically belonging to a Series of Nations, many of you will profit from them, in the form of their production. Each turn half of the Legations Military Output is divvied up between the Legation members.

Current Members of the Legations and their dividends:

Empire of Japan 40%
German Empire 20%
Imperial Federation 20%
The Pacific States of America 10%
The Danubian Federation 10%

Since the PSA and the Austrians are not in the game yet, both nations dividends are given to Germany and the Imperial Federation respectively.
You can use a Domestic Order to increase your Influence (and thus Dividends) in the Legation Cities at the cost of other nations dividends (which will be randomly decided).
Other players may also use domestic orders to buy into the Legation Cities and thus profit from dividends.
Each use of these actions also increases overall production of the Legations temporarily giving them a bonus for all that mess...

((by the way Credit goes out to Aedan777 from SV who gave me the idea and from whom i nicked quite a lot of mechanics and ideas :P))

Hmm I'll give it a shot, just 3 orders seems doable.  Time to band together and defeat the Marita.. ppff ha ha couldn't even finish that, well be lucky if the biosphere survives this war on earth.

Choices in order would be:
1 Empire of Japan
2 Brotherhood of steel Pacific States
3 African Union

Welcome, Welcome and now we have:

Germany,
Japan and
the Legation Cities.

What we still require for a normal game start is the Imperial Federation and Mars. Although we can do without Mars if really no one is interested in playing the "bad guys"
