Needless to say, the merchant does not get to finish her sentence before running off in a burst of flames, a small bag slipping out of her pouch and dropping her spear in a panic.

A crushed can of Staminan Energy rolls across the empty streets as the Annas beat a hasty retreat. Anya coils up her whip, slipping it into a holster underneath the waist-level slit in her dress.

"I think that's all of them. Shall we catch the tram?"

Lastelle smiles as the last Anna flees.

"Always a beautiful and sweet taste, that."

"But yeah, we can't stop moving here."

Setting back into motion, she hooks the dropped bag and spear with her scythe to bring them to her hands. She makes room for the spear and stows it away, then opens the bag.

"It's full of...lapel pins. Is this what they accept downpayment in?"

Gingerly, she pours a few pins onto her hand to inspect them closer. She feels a slight throb of power from one of them.

"Oh, I see. Some of them are enchanted. Anyone interested in a magic boost? Or just a kitschy decoration?"

But Anna and the Annas were already off, their leader still aflame.  Lagata gave a little huff of annoyance, then reached over to pick up the bag that Anna had dropped-

Only to have Lastelle sweep it up first.  The tiny alchemist straightened up and glared at her.

"Hoi.  Give me those."

Hopping up to sweep the bag from the rider, Lagata swiftly pulled it open, rifling around within.  Eventually she pulled out one of the tokens Lastelle had been looking at moments before.  She examined this for a second, then flicked her ears.

"What the hell?  How did that two-bit con manage to get ahold of these?"

"I'm not sure if they're real or really good forgeries, but they're definitely master seals.  Usually you don't get these unless you pass your advanced adventuring certification, but..."

"Yeah, they're Master Seals, alright.  Throw one of these on, and you'll be promoted, advanced-class adventurer. It can take ages to get ahold of these legally, if you ever get the chance to get 'em at all."

Lagata hummed, continuing to stare down at the bag.  Then she gave a little grin, reached in, and plucked out one of the seals and tossed it to her friend.

"Hey, Nico.  Happy whatever!"

"Hey now, don't they say that the value of a medal is in earning it?" Lastelle says playfully.

"Think what an affront it would be to the honour of whoever decides things that the lowly Warriors be declared 'advanced adventurers'."

The sarcasm is clear in Lastelle's voice.

"Perhaps this is why the Annas fought us." Xerxe mused, staring down the street at the wreckage of the battle-jumbles of frizzy red hair, fallen coin ledgers, and drifting merchant receipts. "These seals are extremely valuable. The Church mothers kept them in the deepest coffers and only gave them to the most Holiest of warriors...the Annas must have thought we were here to steal them...well, thieves only reckon others by their own measure. A thief is one most afraid of being robbed."

Xerxe considered that if the group had actually known they had the seals, his friends would almost certainly have attacked anyway. Adventurers never let a chance at promotion go to waste.

"...I have long coveted strength gained of my own free will, the strength to inspire people in my beliefs. But I think other hands may have a better use for these for now. My training can only lead me in a predictably offensive direction. Which is not necessarily first in line. And I can no longer lay claim the Holiness in the eyes of Goddesses..." He didn't sound particularly upset about that.

"Well, I can help you get back in Freya's good graces at least."

"Offensive direction, huh? Well, I know it's been illegal for me to wield a staff ever since the Physic Incident, but I'm thinking if I wore one of those, nobody would ask me for a license."

Largo smashes his fists together. He looks oddly excited.

Lucy snatched one from the bag while Lastelle was distracted and chucked the seal underhand in Largo's direction.

"Here you go."

Largo catches it with a smile.

"Well, if you insist, Lucy..."
"Heh... I've heard a Revivian say that once, and while it sounded incredibly stupid, it also sounded like raw power and raw manliness and I always did want to shout it at least once in life when the time is right... What better time than right now?"

He raises the seal into the air.

"HENSHIN A GO GO BABY!"

Well, Largo had already grabbed it.  The catgirl's tail twitched in annoyance.  Fortunately for Largo, he was bullied enough, so this time she would let it slide.

"Okay, fine.  Nico gets one and Largo gets one.  Sure."

Lagata fished out one of the Master Seals, examining it for a moment. Then she nodded, cheerfully stuffing it into her pocket.

"That means there are two left."

"As your local guild store manager, I'm making an executive decision.  First-"

"Whoever wants these things is going to have to pay for it, like you would anything else from the store.  We are taking payment in credit again so I can just send you what you owe; as a reminder, I do know where all of you live."

"And second-"

"There'll be a discount on that to whoever gets us to the tram first, before our goofing around makes us miss the damn thing."
