As Evie creeped up on him, Xerxe became watchful, prepared for her usual assortment of tricks such as itching power, cloak tugging, teasing him about his hair or headband, remarking about his feelings for Lastelle and Lucy (he had heard more than a few bawdy and physically/dimensionally improbable limericks about them), and pointing over his shoulder at distant spots and remarking that there was a deity there and he should look. And those were only the tricks he had catalogued.

A side project of his was to write the book on evil fairies. One day we would publish it and no one could be tricked again. He called it the Malleus Scurra-Hammer of the Jokers. The end of laughs. Of course he suspected that Evie suspected that he suspected that she knew about suspecting it and he figured if she did she would spare no expense in trying to ruin his copy if she ever found it.

He tended to have these long, drawn out thoughts whenever Evie was around. Compared to his usual dogmatic and straight forward thinking it wasn't entirely unwelcome...

Either way, A Genin would soon also be falling. He picked his targets carefully...too bad Tomato was out of his range...Xerxe just couldn't ketchup to him. He noticed Nico was recharged by Lucys hypnotic dancing-he charged in to help protect her.
