I was curious what would happen if I continually scrolled left off the fortress map. It took awhile, but I finally found THIS little gem:

Don't believe me? Try for yourself. Just keep scrolling left off the normal fortress map. It will take awhile, but it will show up eventually.

Not new at all; there's other messages as well - like when you scroll right.

You know, I was assuming that was the case, but gave up after about a minute of scrolling and minimized Dwarf Fortress to do other stuff. I read this, open it back up, tap the right arrow once and it shows up... I stopped that close to the message.

If you go way to the right it says something like:
While you are traveling to the center of the earth, watch for the death messages of the dwarves you are neglecting.

It's not exactly that, but its something like that  , scroll far right to see it. Been a while since I did it.

its already in the game.  the manager gives you a snide comment if you order it made before the dungeonmaster shows up.  it might even be the same comment.
