Fusion and chemistry would absolutely be helpful. My memories of them have dulled over the centuries.

Perhaps you could simulate training healing others with our will? We got close a few times, and this way nobody will be injured if things go wrong.
+1 Those sound like good uses of our time.

You rise. There's no reason to check the time, so you take your medications, popping them into your mouth one after the other. Then you eat your delicious breakfast of nutrient cube. You check in on Mitch next, rubbing his belly and petting him -- according to his tenders, Emma plans on taking him for a walk. You dip a courteous nod as you leave, walking down towards Cephiela's ship. The doors open to accept you, the AI turning the lights and other devices in the vessel on. The Behaviour Modification Chamber awaits, and you strip down, stepping into the empty tank. It fills with the same liquid as before, and you try to suppress the panic. There's a sharp pain in the back of your neck, and the world fades to white.

For the next forty-eight hours you lose yourself in the complicated work of fusion energy, all while maintaining a small scale reactor of your own willpower. Smashing the atoms together is simple, but the fusion that results, you quietly measure, exerts less energy than what you put into it from your own metabolism. Indeed, it far simpler, and more energy-efficient, to ignite the hydrogen. However, through your research, you discover that there are stages you could, hypothetically, do. However, they each present new problems for you to control. However --

The resulting energy released could be destructive, if properly channeled. The only issue is that you would only be twenty-five meters away from said energy release. That, and it takes time to construct the 'vessel' that contains the blast. This is no even application of heat, no controlling the direction of gas -- this requires you to mentally construct various devices and zones of pressure across the entire algorithm. Far more interesting to you, though, is how much energy is released from the more stable 'reactor' style of your fusion powers, and the elements which are formed.

After studying chemical reactions involving the two elements you control, you have to pull yourself from the pod to find one of the Thornton Chemical Laboratories. Once there, you 'borrow' some glassware, a vacuum chamber and many other items besides. Next, you secure a tank of hydrogen. With your will acting as reinforcement for the vacuum chamber-- you set to work. First one stage, then the next, then the next, recycling components and using your willpower as a filter-- soon, fine dust begins to coat the bottom of the vessel. It shines within the light, molten hot against the padding of pure silicon at the bottom of the vessel. You run out the measured hydrogen tank, having to apply more and more of your own energy to keep the process running.

You slump down, breathing hard, a headache pounding at your skull. You have to rip apart the vacuum chamber to retrieve the matter at the bottom of it. You've synthesized Beryllium from hydrogen. It currently sits embedded in a crude circle of silicon.

Silicon manipulation, while useful, still lags behind your potent ability to manipulate elemental hydrogen. However, through the use of a vacuum chamber, and list of chemical formulas from your datapad, you do manage to create a few things. Silane, which combusts upon contact with oxygen. You were, through the use of these chemical sheets, forewarned of its flammable nature, avoiding the explosion that would have ended in deaths for your less fire-proof chemists. It took you a while of work, but after your presentation of the crystal, these people are taking an interest in your work. They copy the formulas, and, with materials provided by you, have managed to synthesize the same materials you have; silane among them.

You incase the silane in a silicon shell, sealing it off in the same move. You head to the launch pad, and with some assistance from your willpower, you throw it at a crag in the canyons. It explodes in a puff of fire. Perhaps if you combined it with something else, such a useful thing could be a trigger for a larger weapon.

There are other uses-- Silane gas is useful in the fabrication of integrated circuits. But the science of that, and the materials you would need, are complicated. More importantly, is that you cannot manipulate 'germanium' or any of the other elements you might need to create a circuit. Logic gates too, are hard for you to conceptualize.

You devote a day to the Therapist, letting it pick at your brain and poke at your weaknesses as an individual. But it does its job dutifully, and without being too invasive. It even pretends that it doesn't already know the answers to the questions it asks. It doesn't take long before it begins to expose you to small-scale failures throughout a 'simulated' day. Failures of your own making and the failures of those under your command.

One day you visit a fusion reactor, deep within the depths of the Fortress. You listen intently to the passionate words of the elderly reactor technician. You come to learn that all of the fusion reactors in service are automated to an amazing degree. . They possess only three control options - warm-up, active-output, and emergency shut down. There are a few displays, but no complicated board like you would expect. However, the technicians possess a deep understanding of the process. The eldest even shows you his bared arm and back -- scarred in tiny script across the skin are thousands of formulas related to hydrogen refinement and fusion. Encoded in the high technical script of the Scholars, of course, but etched permanently into this elder's skin.

[19] -- you use it as a reference guide, and your mental arithmetic becomes quicker as a result. Your eyes automatically seek out the next variable, putting it into your mental arithmetic as you run through the formulae.

[6+3][11+3][8+3] You realize that you are able to form a small reactor contained by your will more safely, and efficiently with this data displayed within eyesight.

[15+3] They are incredibly impressed by the hydrogen reactor that you twisted into existence through force of willpower alone. Their eyes light up with childish glee -- and leaded, high tint glasses. Hidden in their snug, leaded robes, they inform you without the protective measures -- you'd probably kill them just by holding that thing too closely for too long. Deadly radiation, eye-burning particle rays and numerous other horrifying deaths, which Baseline bodies don't have protective measures for. You, on the other hand, seem to be immune to all but the most intense levels of radiation. At least, judging from the fact you can manifest a fusion reactor in your hand with no ill side-effects besides a patch of sore red flesh which vanishes relatively quickly by the next day.

[-] Healing isn't your strong suit. You need more control over trace elements. You do note, however, that you can stem a flow of blood by applying pressure to a wound with purified water. You practice this, and get okay at it. You even manage to keep the blood flowing in a simulated model. Not on a real person, not yet.

You visit the gym while gently healing your gaping chest wound. By the middle of the week, only a [few centimeters] of mesh lays between you and combat. So, with that morbid thought, you exercise while you can, keeping careful not to truly exert your muscles. One day though, Silas wants to tag along.

On that day. You are not careful. In the end, he's found your limits in terms of physical strength.[700 kg or 1543.24 lbs] at a deadlift. The strongest Crusader, Eric, of course, holds the nation-state's current record of [285 kg or 628.317 lbs]. He exercises religiously, pushing himself harder and harder each day he has downtime.

Hoganson crowns your week vacation by delivering a stack of paperwork to your office. Twenty folders, all of them containing Families applying for new positions beneath your government. You rub at your brow, staring at the documents with a side-eye, trying not to think of the slog this will be. Many of these are lesser Families. Small organizations and businesses, minor landowners, and certain manufacturers. Only two are asking to be recognized as major Families -- Hoganson and Sandsper.

Sandsper is a southern Family, barely a step above an Outlander Clan. They have many large herds and arable land in the southern Borderlands. Associated with them are few criminal charges: Tax dodging and illegal genetic manipulation. They have about a thousand members and seek protection within the Fortress. They are offering a gift of three thousand head of their Insects, as well as any technology they may or may not possess.

The Hoganson Family-- your lips quirk into a frown. They were one of the largest prospected mineral suppliers known the SEED, responsible for gathering up the various odds and ends that an industrial society needs. Their largest trading center and warehouse-- was in the Holy City. As of his latest census, his Family now has three hundred dependents-- out of an original five thousand. He wishes to place these into the protection of the Fortress and eventually restart his business. He confides as much to you quite bluntly, crossing his hands over the front of his Crusader Uniform.

"The Sandsper are approved. As far as the Hoganson family is concerned, could there be conflicts of interest related to being a businessowner as well as a minister?"

Hoganson lifts a brow, examining you in silence for a few moments before he responds. "Just like the Thorntons, I will make sure no such conflict of interests arise. When in doubt, I will recuse myself from voting." He pauses, "And I'm sure William and Lauren will keep an eye on my Ministry."

You sign both of the topmost documents, passing them back while reading through the next thirty or so Families. A few have criminal records associated with them, but all of them are offering various equipment, food, or other supplies in return for protection and legitimacy. A few wish to relocate to the Fortress City completely, as it seems their ancestral homelands will no longer be arable for much longer.

Its probably best if I skim through all these, ignore the most criminal, and approve all of the relocation requests, right?

Hoganson waits patiently, silently, nearby.

"Hoganson, do you anticipate any law enforcement issues related to the relocation of these families?"

"Possibly, but you have William and Lauren for that, don't you? They would likely be two better Ministers to question." You begin to look through the Family folders, frowning at the reply. It has all the makings of someone who doesn't want to incriminate himself-- the tone of someone who feels it might be a conflict of interest. "The Thorntons ripped the jugulars out from a dozen Families to become powerful, all in the last couple of years."

"The Moore Family, for instance. They were the largest chemical producers in all of SEED's city-state. Your Family wiped them out in a night -- William Senior bought all of their chemical plants and replaced anybody they could."

"So you'd rather have active family wars across a Wasteland?" Hoganson questions, calmly. "Very practical." There is no sarcasm in his voice, and you frown again. "As they say, keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Tell me something -- what would you do to the Family that acts out of line around you? She who rips apart Demons with her bare hands?"

"To be honest with you, Mother Pheonix, and with all due respect -- the Families know what happened to the Moore's. Would somebody risk that for a petty gang squabble?"

"They'll go back to the old ways of combat, before they had access to the Holy City." He finally assures with a shrug. "If there's a conflict, we won't know about it until it hits Emma's ear." He states, in a very directly indirect fashion, taking great pains to avoid the we and the who's. Carefully setting himself aside from the hypothetical problems with a purposefully detached air.

He's testing my patience-- and to see what my opinions on the Families are.
