If we wanted to do that, we could simply fly off on our own power. Safe retreat is nevertheless priority here: for ourself, and for as many of our soldiers as possible.

I'm not sure that either of the three remaining hovercraft would survive the small arms fire.  We would have to reduce the abominations' numbers first.

We have a las gun, let’s see if we still have Overload, by trying to use it on the abominations

Let our armor tell us what we've power got at hand, and we'll work from there. Anything beyond that could well break us for good.

Do repeated overloads from cover with thin, focused beams to cut the abominations in two while trying to be as efficient with our willpower as possible.

+1 Knowing what we're able to do is important.

[5][You move by will alone. Any great strain will break you -- but you have full access to your usual powers.]

Then we shall be broken.

[18] Las-fire streaks through the air around you. An Infected hover-craft strafes you, it's shots kicking up dirt. You do not flinch -- despite the clear target you make in golden panoply, with wings flaring, no shots truly connect.

First try to disable the hovercrafts with focused overloads targeting their reactors, with the goal of igniting the hydrogen and causing them to explode.

[3][15][14] You reach out as the infected crafts swoop in. On the first, your willpower fails you. The second and third do not fare the same. With inhuman screams, their reactors explode. Shrapnel flies as they fall to the earth.

The third falls back, and you rise to meet it in the air.

[15][6 vs. 6] You rip the wings off the pesky fly -- just as it mulches your chest with a laser round. You hit the ground --

[1] You don't rise again. Blackness creeps up to meet you. Firm hands grab your inert body.

You have lived up to my name-- our name, my daughter.

I hope we weakened the plague. Hopefully others can finish off the Leviathan before it heals. I hope We have made a difference. For the better

No. No. No.

The body is broken. What of the will?

There is no better way to die than in battle. Through Emma and William, the line continues.

Is it better to die with dignity or live another day? I do not think the Pheonix would like to see her body now.

Perhaps it is better if she was to rise as an Ancestor? Wouldn't it be less painful? Or is the pain all she has?

She has-- love. Love like we could never have had. She's unlike us. Better than us.

...

...explain to me this ancestral process. If she joins our ranks, who will take her place?
