"[I hope you can understand why I did the things I did, Pheobe Gainer. Apologetic. Why I used religion as a tool, why I killed McCreary, why I committed many acts that lacked morals. Doubt.]"

"[When you reach the evacuation point, a person will approach you. Several young men and women. They are bound to you. They have the keys to power in their belt. Do not make the mistake of thinking they are people -- I created them and conditioned them to be tools of control. They were born the same way you were. They were my Interface with this world. Now they are your's. Reassurance.]"

The machine goes silent as the bubbles grow-- too much processing, too quickly, you surmise.

"[I am afraid, Pheobe Gainer.]"

"[I forgive you, and I swear that you will have vengeance.  I will not rest until your people are safe.  Do not fear, for you have accomplished much and lived long.  Your tale will be treasured legend for millennia upon millennia.  I, too, will remember your sacrifice.]"

Also, note that the act changed immediately after we sent back the scout ship with that message.

I apparently need to catch up on a lot, because I can't tell why this was important as far as knowing if SEED self-destructed...?

+1, also contact Emma if there's any suitable communication equipment in range... She didn't die at some point that I missed, right?

I was mistaken, but I thought that the new title meant something significant had happened, such as the death of SEED.  Because it says "Sol's Reign," I thought SEED was gone, as it is the ruler of these people.

If Emma is dead, we are not yet aware of it.

We are Phoebe Sol-- heir of Alphira Sol-- heir of Alphias Sol. When the Act changed, though we didn't know it... the Holy City's fate was sealed. SEED's people became our people.

We won't need any particular comm-equipment. Lucille can patch us in.

The last time I changed the act you almost blew up the school you were going to in a fit of rage, and were drug into this war.

"[Comfort. Appreciation. Sadness. Fear. A final gift. The true SEED, passed on from Old Terra, too long ago to properly reckon.]" A small creature scuttles out from the inner workings, a cube within its grasp. You take hold of it, slipping into your duffle bag. "[Keep this safe. Do not let it fall into Infected hands, no matter the cost.]"

SEED goes silent, and your HUD blinks with coordinates. Lucille helpfully labels them for you -- Evacuation Point Alpha.

You turn, leaving the Machine alone with its fate.

When in the elevator, you slump down, curling up on yourself the best you can. You can hear the rattle of artillery, of explosions, and the screeching from here.

You emerge, into the Plaza of SEED's citadel, facing the Crusaders as they mount a desperate defense of their holy place. You cannot speak, and let your wings blaze forth.

["[From someone that was once human to another of its kin. Goodbye Pheobe. Thank you.]"]

We're supposedly SEED's "daughter" for religious propaganda purposes.  William refers to this at one time, asking "Do you really need permission from your father?"

Here's the quote: "Does it matter?" William retorts, glancing your way with a grin. "Which is more important, daddy's approval or saving lives?"

Uh, which was the cause and which the effect?

Nicole Gainer showed up to try and drag us into the war... so we (kinda accidentally) knocked ourself into a coma to keep Alphira from burning the building down. When we woke five months later, we were a starved wreck that couldn't say no.

I see. That is way not my first interpretation of it, which was that Egar changed the act based on some plot event and everyone got so mad at the act name changing that we tried to blow up the academy.
