Nod. "We can worry about that later, then."
To Jennifer: "Dismissed. Thank you."

Rest up as best we may. See to it that Emma does the same-- take shifts with the radio, if we feel the need. Tomorrow morning, we make one last check-in with Iyal... then, if the news on that front proves acceptable, we call in the generals.

The four-hour shift of sleep passes uneventfully for both of you. Emma is still acclimating to her lack of sleep, so you take the first, and her the second-- and you're awakened from your slumber by both a lovely tray of food and a newspaper.

You glance at the headline and Emma's smirking face. "We've got a two for one deal." She explains, passing you a napkin and stealing a piece of dried apple from your bowl. You glance down at the newspaper while you eat -- 'Crusader Officers killed: Suspected Gang Involvement.'

...Monica Colgan, General Hardy's assistant and presumed heir and George Montblanc, a petty officer with family ties to the Montblanc Business Family, were found dead early this morning, in front of a well-known gang's, The Slum Barkers, hideout. Both were suspected killed in a retaliatory strike by another gang. No arrests have been made as of yet, but questions persist about what Crusader Officers were doing there...

...one incident in a series of violent events that ripped through the suburbs...

...General Hardy could not be reached for comment...

"Iyal is sleeping-- her definition of fine is similar to ours. I had to wrest the fact that she got shot in the arm from her." Emma leans into you, breathing out a sigh. "We got to get to work. I'll take a few Warmachines with me while doing my duties, and you have to go and escort those Crusader Veterans to William."

She leans in for a kiss, and her perfume is almost too pleasant-- it smells of mountain flowers and a slight smokiness. Emma winks, rising up and leaving you with your breakfast. "I told the captain of the Warmachine Squad to function as your radio operator." Emma calls as she leaves.

Nice, Iyal managed to frame things as an unrelated gang killing. That one knows what she's about... shame about her arm. We'd best let her rest up.

Anyhoo, we'd best be off to that meeting point of ours. I'd forgotten about escort duty!

You shower and change into an identical uniform, then pause as you linger by Lucille. Are you wearing your armor, today?

Not... not to my knowledge? It could've gone rogue overnight, I guess. Or someone could've trapped it somehow. Lots of weird stuff out there we could worry about.

Yes, wear the armor

Start with the gauntlet, don the rest if Lucille doesn't start screaming at us or something.

...lol

You shuck your uniform and put on your underlay, slipping into the rough fabric and plastic outfit. Next you put on the harder pieces of armor first, then the more easy one. With every piece securely strapped to your person, you attempt to manipulate the silicon bonds within the tip of the glove--

And they don't work. You sigh, trying again, and this time, the needles come out, piercing your flesh down to the bone. The pain, at this point, is a welcome reminder that you're human. [Good Morning, Sadil.]

[16]You do know you can adjust what she calls you, her name and all those other preferences, right? Like, she's fully customizable.

[5]You think it over as you walk out of your compound, three Guards and four Warmachines at your back as you approach the square...and there's no one there. Only a figure, hunched against a post. It's still alive, you note, but you hesitate to approach. No need to worry, however, because it rises, shucking off her hood to smile and bow at you. Its a thin blond, with a scarred face, missing an arm. "It was al little dangerous to gather, we figure, so I was going to wait until you arrived."

Whitney Carter, you remember Emma briefing you, takes another bow, and begins to rouse the people from their homes, and soon the street is crowded with the crippled soldiers. Many of them bow, and all seem to be in better spirits-- far more sober, too!

Anything to say or would you like to proceed?

...attraction to the user?  Empyreals have strange priorities.

[Disable attraction to the user.  Enable all helpful hints.  Enable commanding officer proximity alert.  Set username to 'Phoebe.']
