Good. And as for the messiah complex-- what else are we? These people are so primitive it hurts. They don't understand that there are children who can speak more languages then there are people on this world, they don't understand that there are millions of ... people like us out there. Some strong enough to rip this planet in two with a snap of their fingers. They don't understand that they are being led astray from their destiny among the stars by a machine.

Small silverfish begin to repair what damages they can around you, swarming from the depths as guards without fusion blasters -- you wouldn't let them approach otherwise, stand protectively by vital components that smolder.

"[Input orders.]" SEED's voice once more is emotionless.

And that -thing- is still planning on killing us, smiling like the loyal servant about to poison its master.

You're right.  I'm sorry I doubted you.

"Debt-slavery is now forbidden.  Human wave tactics and use of attrition is now forbidden.  Radio technology is no longer forbidden.  Crime families now must follow the law and respect the lives of others.  In addition, you have authorized me to replace the generals as I see fit and dictate military strategy and tactics."

Hm, should we clear the air a bit before we start rattling off our demands? How subservient do we figure SEED is feeling right now?

Ahh, but it's a servant now. That, we can work with!

"You claim to care deeply for the people of this world. Good; I believe you. I care for the individuals-- for each life burned away in your service, for each life cast to the maw of the [plague]."

"That was Alphira. She's amazing, and she would have blasted you to ruin just now given the chance. I'm Phoebe Gainer, and I intend to turn this war, this world for the better-- on your behalf. In alliance. As... Captain Zachary would have wanted."

"Query: do I have your full aid in this matter?"

Hmm.  Alright.  Regardless of how subservient it feels, it will comply, I believe.

[-]"[Affirmative.]"

I used no trick of arithmetic, I did nothing that you couldn't do now, Patches. You doubt your own strength...and aren't the Thorntons a major crime family? And how will freeing the debt-slaves work...the war machine will rip itself to pieces.

They are, and they must learn to toe the line.  However, I see your point.

"Debt-slavery will be forbidden after the war has ended.  Human wave tactics and use of attrition is now forbidden.  Radio technology is no longer forbidden.  After the war, crime families must follow the law and respect the lives of others.  In addition, you have authorized me to replace the generals as I see fit and dictate military strategy and tactics."

This voice was concerned about that. This voice is content with the addendum.

"[Politics and Economy: Later.  Current probability of instability: Ninety-eight percent.]"

Something buzzes. "[EDICT CONCERNING: FORBIDDEN TECHNOLOGY -- LINE TWO NINE EIGHT STATUS CHANGE: RESTRICTED TO MILITARY USE]." It echoes throughout SEED, and you squint at a corner of the room where you think a camera might be. "[EDICT CONCERNING: MILITARY LEADERSHIP --] [ANGEL] ALPHIRA [ASSUMES DIRECT COMMAND OF ALL MILITARY OPERATIONS.]"

"[Operation complete. Please leave.]"

You step through the door into the lift-- something pops, and another fire begins to burn while a silverfish scurries around in circles around it, confused. It's 'antenna' wiggles frantically.

The door shuts behind you, and you are plunged into darkness as you ascend to the surface. The gravity begins to shift--this time you pay attention. The further up you go, the lighter you become. You walk past the mouthpiece of SEED, pushing open the massive doors to the foyer, where Emma is laid across a couch. Se's not sleeping, just lazily sprawled, foot-tapping in the air.

"Oh thank SEED you're done. It's been hours! Negotiations must have been difficul-- why are your clothes all wet?"

Couch. Dry off first with a bit of hydrogen fire, perhaps.

"I may have ah... started some fires..."
Brief Emma quietly on the proceedings.

+1, but DO NOT MENTION anything about curbing the Families.

Yeeahhh, worthy addendum. +1

For that matter, maybe gloss over the bit with Alphira too?
Was rather a personal moment for all concerned, and I'm... not really sure yet how we want to break that news to Emma's Alphira.
