We just declared ourself a living god. When we've scoured the [plague] from this world, perhaps we can begin returning control to the people-- but for now, we have need of majesty. We have need of control. We are becoming like unto SEED, perhaps-- it is distasteful, perhaps-- but for now, it is necessary. SEED had not the luxury of free government; for the time being, neither will we.

As to the choice of general: let us have words with Eric. If he is beyond hope, we will let Isela take the reins... but if not, he will serve well to inspire the ranks. Isela can take up another role, an advisory role.

"[Angel] will do, for a title-- Holy Mother, for an honorific. I'll not take up the ceremonies of SEED; they would be impractical for my purposes... I am to be approachable. A god of the people, an angel of mercy. I will keep an honor guard: seven squads of ten, marked with my crest; separate from the other ministries, and beholden to me alone. You will select skilled and loyal soldiers for this purpose."

"We've little in the way of benefits for our ministries at this time, but we can give of what remains to us: proper accommodations, for the ministers and their families. A modicum of access to our food and healthcare establishments, once we've got those running. A fixed salary, once we've got that running. A personal guard, ten to a minister; loyal not to the ministries, but to myself."

"As for a meeting-hall... I'm not all that familiar with the lay of this fortress. We want somewhere out of the way, with a bit of dignity about it-- where would you suggest?"

We do need some majesty.  People often find that comforting.

"I would also like you to create a ministry of technology dedicated to studying SEED's final gift to me.  The ministry would also determine which technologies would be helpful and possible to produce."

Much of our "majesty" will come naturally. We adorn ourself now with grand titles, and with armed escort... but much will come naturally. SEED relied on distance to create veneration, and on ceremony-- we won't need to! We can inspire such things simply by what we are... and that allows us a closeness to our people that SEED could never have.

We'll be in our armor most of the time, I expect, when we're in public: full kit, wings out, honor guard, the lot. A spectacle for the populace, a show of power... all so that, resplendent, we can return to our people the very respect we are given! All so that they can
rise with us, as did Whitney Carter in the alleys of the Holy City.

This is the purpose to our majesty. In exalting ourself, we exalt our people. We give them dignity.
They'll love us for it.

I hope your assessment about the people rising with us is a correct assessment. I’m worried they might see our majesty as them not having it. I want them to see themselves as with us, not lower than us

I would vote for Isela Tabbet. If Eric kills himself while acting as general, it would be a big blow to the morale to the citizens of this state.

I'd be curious to know how much actual fighting the position holds. General Hardy struck me more as a paper-pusher than an active soldier.

The General position is primarily strategy focused, without much in the way of combat. They do not lead from the front, as they are a high value target for the opposing force. Any visit to the frontlines are for morale purposes, and are well planned.

"Understood." The null scribbles you words down as you explain.

"The investigation of the info cube was going to be one of the responsibility of the Ministry of Industry." The null explains, "But if that is your wish, it will be amended."

"I will begin recruitment of the guards immediately." He nods, then continues, "There is a recreation level that will be requestioned and furnished. Level thirty five."

Finally, he withdraws another slip of paper: a requisition form. It's for a small hover-craft and fuel. Requisitioned for somebody named Cephilia Summers. It has your obviously forged signature on the bottom, and it's already been fulfilled.
"I also intercepted this. There was no flight plan filed with it."

If the general position is mostly strategy focused, I would prefer the Outlander. We can use Eric on the front, if he's willing.

"Do we have any record of someone with that name, and are there any missing persons that were known to be here recently?"

We did tell her to run recon on the surviving districts. Should we pay visit to Eric and this Isela?

Ah, I see. Yes, I think we should. It would be nice to check in with the Twelfth Crusader as well, vanquisher of the plague.

"I will begin assembling the Ministers. I will inform you when the first meeting will take place." The null rises, giving a tight bow of his head and leaving. Emma yawns, stretching herself out on the utilitarian couch nearby.

"I think I'll go to bed for a little while." She murmurs, sleepily, rubbing at her eyes. She crosses over to you, planting a gentle kiss on your cheek before heading to her bedroom. You sit for a moment longer, feeling a little tired, but do not dwell on it. Instead, you rise. Mitch is waiting patiently for you, and you take the chain and secure it to his collar, heading to the elevator. You pass by a dozing William on the way out.

You flip through the recommendation folder, keying in the level code for the field hospital. After a few turns down the various pathways between beds of wounded soldiers, you come to stop just before you reach Eric's.

[4] Something probes at the edge of your awareness. But it's gone before you can truly register it.

Eric lounges in the bed, and stares at you with dull eyes as you approach. Bloody bandages wrap themselves around his torso, his legs, making the common splotches associated with las-gun ruptures. His left arm bears a stump of ugly cauterized flesh at the elbow. He must be drugged, as he doesn't seem to be able to focus on you.

"Pheobe." He croaks, weakly, looking up at you. "This means...I'm dead...I hope..."

[11] A weak field of willpower twists around him, and you pause, confused. It wrings and loops through itself, twitching feebly with his heartbeat.

Ahh Eric... what this world has put you through.

That willpower writhing about him. Is it human, or... something
