I wonder... would the people of SEED be better off under Empyrean rule? Perhaps open war won't be necessary just yet.

Nod. "I assumed as much."
"How was I to be-- contained?"

I don't think SEED hid this world out of pettiness or concern for power. It believed that Empyreal rule would not be better than being on a plague-ridden hellhole.

Pheonix, do you remember what Empyreal rule is like? Are we constant;y sent to war? Or are there non military citizens? Is there freedom?

It depends on where in the Empyre you are. If this planet goes on official maps as inhabited, Pirates and Rim Kings will pick at it. No one cares about backwaters like these. Not unless they're mineral rich. If they're lucky they might have a Corp step in until the resources run out. But they'll bleed every drop of profit from it they can.

"[By whatever means I saw fit. They didn't end well, did they?]" Cephie murmurs with a shrug of her slender shoulders.

I honestly only remember the wars.  Anywho, we can determine what to do with her in a few years... provided that was not a lie as well.

Will it really take 12 years to get here? So fast and yet so slow.

We should ask her to make a secondary contract with us.  Nothing that would betray her primary one.  An oath to support us until her master comes or she feels it would be against his wishes and to alert us when she is leaving our service.  When she does leave she would agree to a 24 hour cease fire with us and to carry a message to her superior.

She seems the honorable type I suppose and getting her to directly agree to a contract would be useful.

She might agree to a contract like that...but our word is our oath. No crew will sign on with a captain who breaks their word -- and Spacers are notorious gossips. Captains and crew alike...we might need to change our appearance if we're to return to the Void, but Alphira's stain might haunt our Line for centuries.

"[A small dropship. I dropped down in the salt plains of the east, and blended in with the Outlanders for a time. They're primitive, but honorable. I served as a Warchief, for a year there, before my Clan was destroyed.]" Cephie shrugs a shoulder, then glances at you, "[We could leave here. You, your kindred and myself. The ship has four cryopods -- it can't leave system, but it could get us off-world until Magnus arrives.]"

"[You could rejoin the Empyre. Step in -- twelve years pass -- step out like its the same day. You and your loved ones would be safe until the fleet arrives.]"

And once they do arrive, I'm sure they will just let us go. After all, it's not like we have a huge bounty on our head or anything.

There is a hard limit to the number of prime ancestors that the MC has. If you don't mind a weaker cadet branch or a rigorous, very tightly controlled life story, then it isn't an issue. The Cadets Branches have limited importance on the story, but the strict one has a great importance but isn't very open-ended.
I don't mind a cadet branch background.

We can’t leave, we do have a bounty on us, nd we need to protect SEED’s people. We need to get rid of the plague. Leaving now would be betrayal

"Quite the offer. Alphira would maybe have taken it..."

"...I'm not Alphira. I'm-- someone new, made to fit her body-- I was born on this world, really. It's become a home to me. Its people are my people. I could never leave them to the plague that way, not when we've still a chance against it."
