Name: June (Although his parents *insist* on calling him Jun-no-Imari, usually with all his titles attached. Some of these include: Bronze-Anointed Prince, Quill of the Red-Copper Seals, Penultimate Arbiter of Weights, Vice-Judge of the Seal-Hide Court, Carrier of the Eight-Legged Cauldron, Inspector of the Imperial Talismans, Sandal-Bearer of the Most Righteous and Exultant Divine Concubine, Inquirer of Immigrants Temporary, Selector of Truthful Visitation, etc. Suffice to say, June finds all these titles *lame*)
Origin: Birth
Parents:
Mother- Mazu (Worldly). Mazu was a woman of divine heritage, possessing the blood of ancient coastal giants and the swirling celestial liquids of the heavenly gods. And yet, she was born to a fisherman and his wife on a lonesome island just beyond the mainland. It was in her blood to be great and perhaps fate itself nudged her forward. Mazu gained skill in the art of divination, navigation and sailing. As she aged, she found herself beloved and respected by her village, then her region, then state and then finally, the court itself. Given imperial title, Mazu led the empire's fleets in exploration, trade and conquest- usually from her office overlooking the island she had grown up. It was a personal request from the empress that saw her lead a fleet to the islands of the Barbarian Emperors of Yanata-Wa, who had for decades, disputed the imperial hegemony of the Middle Realm. Mazu was to force her way through the eternal storm, the kamikaze, that protected Yamato-Wa and personally approach the imperial port of Imari- proving the superiority of the mainland. She lost many a ship and in the midst of breaking through the divine blockade, gazed upon the source; the god Susanoo. She shouted at him and screamed in the sailor's tongue (an ugly linguistic invention mainly used for bartering and cursing another's mother), beginning an exchange with the barbarian god. One thing led to another and the new eloped to Susanoo's underwater palace. Mazu stayed for a time and then continued on with her mission, returning to her ship (and a clear day) with a newborn infant sucking on her teat. This infant would one day become known as Jun-no-Imari.
Father- Susanoo (Divine). Susanoo was an old god who for countless generations, had patronised the lands of Hommon, which by the ebbs and flow of politics, became synonymous with Yanata-Wa. He had seen the petty tribes grow into bustling cities, establishing new rituals, practises, laws and technologies. In time, one rose above all others and it was to this state that Susanoo poured his love into. When the divine lineage that ruled Yanata-Wa (a lineage descended from the great builder of the archipelago, as well as Susanoo's divine sister) declared themselves equal to the mainland snob-sovereigns of the Middle-Realm, Susanoo was overjoyed. When he heard that the snob-sovereign had been insulted by the act, and that he was preparing a force to humiliate his much loved people, he conjured the divine winds around all of the archipelago. Susanoo held this for several decades, seeing the rise and fall of many snob-sovereigns in that time. During one reign, a particularly strong-spirited mortal approached Yanata-Wa and somehow, navigated her way right through- approaching Susanoo himself. He was quite surprised, amused and angered. After a brief exchange, Susanoo became enamoured and convinced the navigator to spend some time with him in his undersea palace, an offer the woman accepted if he willed the kamikaze to calm. His mind clouded, he agreed. When all was said and done, the woman left him happily, with a child in her arms.

Appearance: June (with an e, thank you very much, *dad*) can at times, look quite androgynous, seemingly masculine or feminine depending the angle, time of day and whether June has decided to shave his face that particular day. June usually keeps his long hair in a bun and rarely cuts it- although is known to let it flow freely when he knows neither of his parents (or their lackeys) are watching. June usually wears whatever is suitable for the occasion; sailor's clothing for a voyage, formal robes for court, and a loincloth on a hot summer's day. Under casual conditions, June wears a tunic that reaches his knees, a heavy belt around his waist, long socks and some wooden slippers. All such clothes tend to be of simple make and bland pattern. They are usually blue.
Personality: June is in brief, most blase with his status. Indeed, he sometimes wishes that he wasn't so goddamned well-bred (by his land's standards, any how). He dislikes that his whole life is basically decided, that his parents and guardians keep telling him so, and that he has to follow all these traditions and carry out these duties. At the same time, he doesn't actually mind most of these, just that he's being told he *has* to follow them. Indeed, he actively enjoys some of his responsibilities and feels terrible when he hasn't done it properly or acted wrongly. Whilst perhaps angsty about this, his relations with others is usually polite and based on the traditional relationships expected of him. He treats those above him with deference and those below him with some reservation. When in disagreement with someone, he rarely outright says so. When angered, he tries not show it. When no one important is looking however, June is much more informal. During these times, he treats most people the same and speaks in a much more informal and relaxed manner- sometimes making jokes at his or someone's expense, or outright disagreeing with someone.
Goals/Beliefs: Independent and yet also, the very thing his parents want of him- to be a brilliant diplomat, especially in the matters of spiritual entities. He also desires to earn himself a fleet of mortal vessel, harem, an orphanage, two noodle shops, a fish sauce manufacture, the love of poets and a well-maintained garden. Also, a small coastal village. June thinks everyone should treat everyone nicely and fairly, unless another approach is necessary. June is mildly racist against dragons; he has had *multiple* bad experiences with the tutelary deities of water and protectors of imperial thrones. Did you know they don't pay taxes?! June is firmly against that!
Backstory: June was born as the love child of Mazu and Susanoo and in that time since, ferried between the two. Usually, he stayed with his mother and indeed, sometimes feels as if he is a mortal in a spirits' world. Even so, June has rarely had time to contemplate that fact, being given responsibilities at an early age- he was already organising the Divine Concubine's sandals at the age of nine, and was learning basic storm formation at six. It was from such endless practise, learning and discipline that June started feeling discontent with what his parents requested of him- it felt like far too much. Indeed, he said so himself (and earned himself an earful as a result- quite painful when your father rules over the storm). In any case, June spent most of his time either at his mother's palace, on a ship, in his father's undersea palace or touring Yanata-Wa at his father's side. The constant travelling saw June see many lands and peoples and resulted in him meeting many contacts amongst the divine and mortal- and those in between. As it had already been decided for him, June was placed in preparatory classes for the imperial exams in the Middle-Realm, earning top marks as a result. He found the bean-counting and problem-solving of the imperial service interesting as despite his divine parentage, he was treated the same as every junior clerk. Which is to say, worse than the tea-intern. It was only later, after a few years, that the bureaucracy, in all its almighty knowledge, saw fit to put the divine-blooded bean-counter in the bureau of spiritual disputes. He excelled there ad quickly climbed the ranks, earning accolade and prestige as a result. Even so, his parents pushed him to greater authority- and perhaps not so subtly, that he should do something more auspicious than a mortal's job. It was because of this that he was enrolled into the Academy.
