Lets see, basic interrogations, lots more magic interactions, more interesting sites, etc etc etc. Its just better now. Still needs work of course (so that adventures can become villains, and more interesting plot threads) but all around alot better so far. Tis exciting.

Oh yeah and you can start with any kind of items you want (and customize it like crazy), get pets,start with pets, ride animals (like horses), get pack animals,  start with a party of adventurers, tab between companions to take control of them. And much more. Also the gods can get annoyed and turn you into a bird. Im probably missing alot.

Seems people are alot more interested with all this new stuff now so :)

edit:
Way more differnet sites aswell, eg castles have returned, bandit forts are a thing etc.

For me it's the combination of deepening WorldGen (and Legends mode) and the outcome for Adventure Mode: i.e. the horrible experiments by necromancers who can turn normal creatures into night creatures that become/stay normal citizens in a civ (therefore you are able to play them), the spreading of evil biomes which can make travelling way more interesting (especially in towns and hamlets that now are in such biomes), the restriction to bogeyman for only existing in evil biomes (and not all of them) and much, much more.
All in all the game got way more deeper in terms of worldbuilding.

After finishing off the giant mutated cow/spider, I left my companions fighting zombies outside and snuck into the Tower. Carefully making my way to the back room, I flung open the door and was faced with something completely alien (it was a "Q").  :o
Shocked I looked more carefully, it seemed to be some kind of giant mutant guard dog.

After that I switched control to one of my companions who was having a hard time with the zombie horde and got her out of trouble. We all had to make a run for it though. Just as all was lost, my horse appeared from out of nowhere at full gallop.

I rejoiced until the damn thing ran straight past me and plowed into the zombie horde. Got it out eventually, a little battered, and we all rode away to safety.

...

None of which can be done in 44.12.  :)
