Journal of the Tavern Keeper 28th of Obsidean 182Curse that now shaven lout! He spilled his drink on my journal and ruined a good few of the entries. I cut off half his beard as punishment and banned him from the tavern for a month. He begged me not to do that, and I agreed providing he shaved the rest of it. The fool did leave his moustache alone but it was close enough.
Before I depart to prepare the election for the next overseer, I shall record the main events that happened in the now ale sodden pages.
During the raid one of the dwarves ended up possessed while I fled, carrying KingZultan's coffin away. By KingZultan herself no less and she promtly tried to arrest everyone.
After breaking up the morbid gathering, she came to me and demanded to be placed back in her coffin. I told her that someone had put her in the wrong part of the catacombs and I was placing her in the Hall of Legends as soon as the paperwork was done. A quick trip to Snaggrips' office and KingZultan once again departed this realm
Not satisfied with the haul of old corpses, the overseer made us go kill Pelese.
Despite popular theory saying I punched the forgotten beast's head onto Oddum's pike, that's only half the story. After the overseer tried to inspire us with his speech when we were holding our pre assault meeting, we had to get Salmeuk to knock down a couple of pieces of wall to attack it.
Salmeuk did as he was bade and retreated as Pelese was upon us in an instant.
The fight was horrible...for Pelese. We cut off some of its limbs and at one point Asmel bit the bugger and tore of its foot! The blasted thing refised to die and tried to breathe its boiling poison on us.
That's when I punched it, in the eye mind you, so hard its head twisted and landed on the spear.
It then choked on its own poison breath and its head started dissolvingI then decapitated it. Victory was ours!
Alas no time to celerbrate. The goblins had come for dwarven blood! Snaggrips bellowed and demanded the magma release but our resident trenchcoat bees were too busy socialising. I then yelled up that the honey was at risk unless the Mugma was released and Reg pulled the lever, drowning about 2/3 of the goblin horde in liquid fire.
We let some of the magma empty then swept for survivors. The goblins, though battered were still trying to put up a fight. Id got shoved backwards by a nasty blow from a lasher onto some lava which ignited his drinks ration. everything exploded then but Id was still standing.
Meanwhile one of the swamp hunters, Sibrek, took a crossbow bolt to the
neck which damaged his spine.
Having none of it he
leapt from the battlements, shot the gobbo repeatedly as he closed in, beat him in melee with a crossbow, ripped off the goblins helmet and executed it the same manner it wounded himSadly the battle among the flames had a bit of a chain reaction and we lost a few dwarves to either exploding booze or lava. But not a single one to goblin blades, and not a single goblin lived to tell the tale.
In the meantime, the cyclops attempted to escape but tripped the cage trap.
Overseer Snaggrips was annoyed rather than mourning our losses. Only two soldiers could be raised from the dead with the boiling beer having consumed several corpses. This was the proof I needed that he was orchestrating necromancy in the fortress for selfish reasons.
We reset the cyclops in the cage, ready to be released. As usual when working with necromancy disaster struck.
Some of the trogloghouls as he called them ended up attacking the crundles, Malfoy and Salmeuk the latter two were hauling more carcasses to the resurrection chamber. They were attacked but Salmeuk knows how to defend himself and mangled some with picks. The cyclops also got caged again due to an oversight.
The Overseer was angry and demanded more and fresh troglobytes from the caverns...but nobody was paying attention. Clean up of the siege was underway and apparently goblin corpses were sub par. The one traitor we found and decapitated was also caught in the alcohol explosion.
At one point I popped into the armoursmith's hall and found something weird. Mayor Callisto Lorbram was giving an armoursmithing demonstration to Fescue and Bluarian. The latter doesn't need it, but the former was curious if half awake. Malfoy was also there attempting to socialise instead of listening to the lecture.
The real funny part was that a cat walked in right as Callisto finished his lecture and apparently came out a
Dabbling armourmsithFinally, last night, the overseer had enough of people ignoring his orders. Snaggrips dragged two of our fallen to the ressurection chamber and they were raised
The ghost of Nezclaw, Oddom and Id all possessed the new ghouls however and sent him running for the hills.
Good riddance. Sadly their ghosts are still around and we have a party ongoing currently so they won't get slabs yet.
But, the weather is getting warmer at last and sunlight is poking through the goo clouds, revealing to us the extent of the goblinite bounty. Quite a haul if I say so myself.
We've had a lot of cats, dogs and GRIZZLY BEARS breeding and growing to become full adults. Hopefully the next overseer can train them up since we're lacking in dwarf power currently.
The tall bar had the magma reset (despite the confusingly labelled levers) and is full again for the next siege, so at least we have that for fort defence.
Necromancers and goblins. Smallhands' twin enemies. When will they learn that dawn always breaks on their demise?

Save
https://dffd.bay12games.com/file.php?id=15833I managed to replicate most of the save. I didn't ghoulify the militia because all but one of them that did die ended up being immolated in !!longland beer!!
that being said, their ghosts are around and causing havoc. Death by exploding booze is too awesome a demise for me to savescum that in what little time rl has afforded me recently.
I had some trogloghouls and crundle ghouls, but some are in cages and some mangled each other. There's still loads of corpses inside the caverns though, the siege had bad timing and cleanup was needed.
Pelese was killed by Recon again, in a similar manner too.
Didn't drown the merchants because they came and left during the siege and I didn't have the dwarfpower available.
Reset the tallbar magma after the siege. It took about a month because of lever positions and names. (Stack number 1 ON position is the OFF position
, the disconnect to the windmills is not so much a disconnect as a valve)
