"What about your injury?" he inquired, eyeing at the young elf's shoulder. He saw quite a blood stain before Linea bathed. "It was not just a scratch, wasn't it?"
Linea sighed uncomfortably. "Yes it was bad... and that time I wasn't even sure I could draw my bow. But it was already healed at the same day the accident happened."
The orc's wide forehead was still furrowed. "How?"
"It's healed by magic. We had a healer back then."
"Are you sure? How good was the spell?"
"Good enough that makes you wondering why CSA don't have it."
Edwarg leaned against the back of his chair, but his eyes wandered across the tavern hall, to every patrons present. "How did that happened?"
"Oh, some idiots jinxed our formation by triggering a hostile trap." she answered, her voice raised in anger as if confirming Snewden's suspicion. "That's what to be expected when working with such unruly adventurers."
"You work with them?"
"What choice do I have? This hamlet nearly got overrun by wolves and other enraged beast the next day I arrived here. And the information about monster that can withstand bullets? I am not stupid enough wandering in the forest for some charity work!"
Edwarg rubbed his thin beard. He actually wanted to ask why Linea didn't just call for back-up or retreating to Delta Two after knowing that this mission was precarious from the start, but he didn't do that. He already knew the answer, no need to hurt her already wounded pride with cornering questions.
"So who is this... interesting person?" he asked carefully.
"The guy with tin armor. Who keep blabbering about exterminating goblins and greenskins alike. I will just remain vigilant for the next expedition. It was partly my fault for letting my guard down, thinking that I have reliable comrades to watch my back."
"You already have one now. I assure you." Edwarg patted Linea's shoulder, his expression softening. "Though, I think we are in a same page here. Like it or not I too have to work with those civilians. I can't afford to leave this place without sufficient sentries so Barnes and Sven will stay here while we investigate the forest."
"Now you make that sounds like you are also lacking sufficient manpower to accomplish this mission."
"Hey, more people will make the reward less juicy."
Linea blinked. "Huh, never thought you as someone who would even care about coins."
"Sometimes I do." the orc grinned. "I also need some extra cash for my upkeep."
"Really, what for?"
"To get married."
