Update
(Any room for more reps?)
((You will need to declare the disposition of the population you are representing before you can become a part of the council.))
The council vote is unanimous. The planet is wholly unsuitable. With such a rapid and clear decision, the ship is away into deep space before the colony is even fully aware they were at a new planet. The discontent generated is negligible. Your
coffins cryo chambers are still painted by the time you return to them, and you slip back into the coma-sleep as the skulls close down over you, your eyes only just visible through the sockets.
The council has been awakened mid flight once more. This time, instead of the regular technicians your revival is handled by armed guards. The chamber is deathly quiet, and you are escorted by back routes to the council chamber. The atmosphere is tense.
Your briefing is being given by a military officer.
The colony has not been informed of your awakening for this matter. To that end, they are not even aware of the existence of this matter.
Two weeks ago, the sensors aboard the colony ship picked up something strange. A gravitational distortion traveling parallel to the ship, though several AU's out. Over the course of those weeks, the distortion has been moving closer and at this point your experts are sure of one thing; this is the drive signature of an unknown craft, approaching your own.
The options are put fourth plainly. This council room is in lock-down and the lights are low. This may be the most serious decision made by the council to date...
The options are:A: Drop out of drive and transmit a universal greeting according to first contact protocols. Hope for the best. (Cultural, no bonus)
B: Perform a Higgs-Anheim maneuver, to cause a radical course change they hopefully won't be able to follow until you are out of tracking range. (Science, no bonus)
C: Drop out of drive and prime the ships weapon systems. Open fire as soon as the other craft appears. (Military, bonus active)
D: Remain on course, and allow the situation to develop. More information may present itself.
E: Something else... (no bonuses will apply)
