Is there any sort of usable junk in this alley? Like a pipe or something. Something to swing around in self-defense?

There is a soggy cardboard box, a rusty tin can, and a wet stick. It is raining.

We could just lie on all of our maps, or we could flood Europe.
The standard sense of Mario is that he won't murder someone but isn't good enough to not smash bugs. This is engraved into everyone’s mind.
There was one slight problem with the climb, and that was the spontaneous combustion.

Grab the stick then look up and down the alley to try to get an idea of where we find ourselves.

There is a street on one end, and a shop with a sign that says:
Big Barn Bulk Importer
Serving customers proudly since 1988

The shop is clean, and racks of boxes with various labels in tiny print are laid in orderly aisles along the road. A counter sits in the back, cashier having long fallen asleep. His hands still rest on the keys of a battered red cash register.

You suck his blood. He does not notice at all.

Look around the room and see if we see anything useful or valuable.

Look for some materials to write a note with.  Write this: "Sorry, I sucked your blood.  You'll probably want to get that bite looked at.  Please accept this stick as a token of my apology."  Leave the wet stick on the counter.

You leave the stick. There is no note paper. There is a box with a shiny perfume bottle with a crystal stopper. There is also a gun and two cartriges of ammo in a box.
