The AI was trained on fanfiction, so it's not making things up-just feeding you lines from the fanfic that it thinks resembles what you mean. This is evident if you continue without doing an action, as it will start pulling characters out of thin air while reading it to you.
Initial Dungeon AI training was done on stories from here https://chooseyourstory.com/

That is why it has weird artifacts like svelk race, Dr Kessel or unnatural amount of Elizas

And it is FAR more complex than feeding entire lines

Each time I ask the game what a svelk is, it pops up with a different description. My favorite type of svelk was an alien with a beetle-like carapace.

This story began with the custom prompt: "You are a mascot for a professional sports team, but they're pretty bad so the fans have started booing and throwing garbage onto the field. It's your job to entertain the unruly crowd."

For the record, the Dragon model of this has officially leapfrogged Dwarf Fortress as a fantasy simulator. And the GPT-3 tech behind it will be going on sale in October.

60% of the time, it works every time.

Losing is fun!

I was playing a fairly bog standard example of the fantasy adventure as a knight. When I finally located the dragon which I was tasked with slaying, it immediately began to... try to seduce me?

This makes me wonder, is the AI model informed by/taking feedback from previous players of the game or is this a pre-generated model trained on unrelated data sets? Did I just happen to get part of the neural net which was trained on bad erotic dragon fan fiction?

The guy that "trained" the AI probably always wanted to roleplay a donkey

Basically. I was seeing how the AI handled minimal and contradictory input, I've been running a lot of tests against it.

Immediately after that I got the quest complete thing so I guess I won

Yeah. I've found I can eventually steer it into a specific setting. Like it has no science fiction setting aside from cyberpunk but by writing in story mode a lot of star trek related actions, settings, etc it eventually got the general setting enough to make a passable star trek story. I've found I get best results just by staying in story mode rather than 'do' or 'say'. I edit what the AI comes up with so it learns the setting and then I input the next action, it becomes more like a storytelling tool than a game. I'm actually tempted to do a forum game based on the AI's output with some curation on my part.
