Diseases update

After social arc in Villains Update will be time for Diseases Update. This update will add improved infections, fevers and parasites, but not only.

For disease spreading needs mechanic of adding syndrome inducing to creature materials by effect of syndrome. This give ability to make diseases that spread by blood or pus.

Diseases can spread silent, so needs option to make invisible vapor flow. Current game have all other needed mechanics for make simple flue.

Also vomit and two types of filth must become local for all creatures, like pus and blood, like sweat and spit.

Parasites like lice may be vermins that transforms into syndrome and back into vermins (by summoning mechanic, for spreading).

Fantastic zombie virus and brain controlling worms will be very good. They may be generated. And/or not generated.

Transforming animals into animal people not by surroundings but by special disease interesting too. This needs only mechanic of creature "mutation" - ganging parametres like for creature variation, but directly ingame without adding more creatre types in raws.

I like this but I think it should be added AFTER the magic update. I don't want the magic update to get pushed even further away.

I agree, ever since that first mythgen screenshots appeared, I'm keen on reading the myth and magic devlogs.

No, only BEFORE. Because magic can make playing easier. Magic was in oldest versions, but it may be added only after dwarven economic.

Magic was not in the oldest versions. Not even necromancy.

Also, mildly related, I'm actually planning to add diseases to a mod I'm making. (Alongside a bunch of other stuff.)

I would suggest having the diseases procedurally generated and having outbreaks during world generation.

No, Economy is *far* after magic on the development plan.

Honestly this might fit some time after magic so we can get magical diseases.

I posted some ideas here about the subject.

I would suggest having the diseases procedurally generated and having outbreaks during world generation.

I would have both predefined and generated diseases, much like with syndromes. Some deities might create diseases to curse entire communities or simply for other purposes.

You can make blood and pus contagious even in current version, like it works with vampire blood. Zombie virus added as ghouls, if you not mean more complex behavior. In mod you may make spreading by blood coughing and blood vomiting. But game may have more effects of syndromes, like adding new secretions to creature.

You can, but only Toady can add actual proc gen named diseases which spread throughout the world. Hence this being the suggestions forum and not the modding forum.
