"You may." sounds your reply, as you loosen the band 'round the afflicted thigh. "The while I can elaborate further."
The chief smiles in response, and lifts himself from the desk. He then makes his way towards, watched by the soldiers and followed by the clergymen.
"The first one occured in the woods, north of Todoti. We were descending through the wilds to the river, when they jumped us. It was an assembly of various clansmen, what they had in common was none should dwell this close to your plowed ground. There was five of them, one of which born a mighty elk. They were stocked with weapons and bore warpaint unseen outside holy wars."
"And this injury you've sustained then?" the foreman asks. "It appears to be skewered by arms similar to ours."
"I've been struck the attack after. There were only two assailants present then, but of fearsome ability and determination. These came at night, when we were resting at a pilgrim site, only a few hours from here, off the road. If my wound appears small, keep in mind deer men cannot forge, yet they do crave metal weapons. That they have chosen to undergo such hassle but shows their intent. If my companion didn't sell the last ones yet, he has the speartips used, we took them for the trouble."
"I will ask for them, thank you." the leader slowly utters, and rises from the floor. "Did you say the raiders were outlanders?"
"I've been told now my kin lives by your side too, but I know the breed not. Amongst those I fought I recognized specimen from all around Melalesno and farther, as far as the western river. They must've weighed a long journey."
The officer turns again to counsel with the one priest, much to the dismay of the others, already somewhat worked up now that they see you up close. You do not return any of their contorted glances, and patiently await another word with the speaker. The delay lasts longer this time around, but you see your due before the eyelids drop.
"Well, stranger." the chief speaks once more. "That is all very interesting. I am certain to pass this information to the respective officers. If it is all you have, I will to carry on with the rest. You may swap now, but before you do..."
"I believe we can cooperate on both issues, however, at the same time, I do not think I can assign you to any available division, simply for none shall be willing to work along, I fear."
Some present were to raise objections, but the foreman had anticipated it. Just as he uttered the words, he bestowed a good share of baleful glances, silence fell on the room. Then, he continued:
"Still, there is a certain... Option. We look to receive an agent from abroad, one that I am sure would be pleased to accept your assistance and exchange intelligence. He is to arrive yet, but, given his different allegiance and interest in, ahem... Rural affairs, he might be just what you need."
As the man spoke, you noticed the crowd had begun to glow gradually, at least those whose faces doth not hide chainmail. One of the more richly clad simpered as he went on, and soon, nearly all were smiling. When he finished the soldiers begun to clap and sing praises to the speaker.
"Well done!" "The agent!" "Divines give splendor!" "Indeed!" and more exclaims you picked on, and as the cheering begun, you heard movement in the first room too, clearly such humor was not expected and came first this night. Once it has settled, all set their gaze on you to break the silence.
What do you want to do?
