As the key turns, the lights start to dim and flicker. Then suddenly the archway lights up. The center becomes a blinding light. A small object barrels out of it, then it pulses, and the power goes out again. The circuit breaker must have tripped again. The room is dark, and there is soft squelching sound, like a bag of eels being dumped out.

    Backstory:Originally a repair drone, "Arp" eventually attained sentience after being given a vague order to "Clean up the mess" after an office party just before the apocalypse. Those who gave the order are long dead, but Arp cannot ignore the order. Now that the office has finally collapsed from age and decay, Arp has wandered out into the shattered world on an almost certainly hopeless quest to finish "cleaning up the mess."

Due to his natural proclivity of working with machines, he quickly joined the Tinker guild, and was just as quickly assigned to this mission by the guild. Equal parts earnest and practical, he decided that to ensure his survival on this mission he would buy a full body hardsuit so he didn't croak before finding cool old-world relics.

As everyone hold their collective breathe, some people manage to get lights on. However, they soon wish they hadn't. Something big, and seaming to get bigger sits in the middle of the room. As they watch, the thing sprawls out before them. Tentacles spread in ever direction. Then the whole mass lifts up as muscular legs grow up from underneath it. Then a massive beak splits open and lets out an earsplitting shriek.

Nora quickly dashes in and hacks at the things (6+1=7) She manages to sink her hatches into one of the legs, damaging it enough that it gives way under the weight of the thing.

The beast lashes out with a tentacle, which Nora attempts to dodge (4+1=5). The tentacle clocks her in the head, but downs't do much damage.

Ares takes aim with his rifle (8+4=*9*) He shoots the creature several times in the center of the body. The beast seems to quiver for a moment, bu then continues its assault. (7) Ares avoids to tentacles that snap at him.

The creature shrieks again, before rushing towards the door, wrapping it's tentacles around the door in an attempt to rip it open enough to fit through it. The beast still seems to be growing.

I'm not sure if I can actually keep this going, given the gap, but I would like to try. I may just end up only updating it once in a blue moon, but whatever works.
