Its cos of how turns are processed.

First is SC's turn, they conquer 80. Then their turn ends and they then own 80.

It is then your turn. You conquer 80. It is not yours yet until your turn ends.

You're more annoying than a threat at the moment. You didn't shore up your own defensive position while you could. I had planned to spend this turn on set-up, but no... Had to conquer my stuff.
