Otiros gave a brief nod to the others before he moved forward and towards the cave, keeping the crossbow up and prepared in case they were going to find those undead foes as soon as they stepped in.

With no other obvious way forward, the group makes their way into the open cave mouth, hoping that it will lead them to their goal. At first, there are no signs of any sort of occupation of the cave. No signs of movement, or any sort of excavation, or any lights within the cave. Only magical motes conjured by the party's magically inclined are able to light their way.

Deep within the cavern however, light feeds in from ahead, and as the group approaches it, they happen upon a sea of skeletons and zombies. A great clamor of creaking bone sounds as the skeletons turn to the intruders, red lights filling their otherwise hollow eye sockets shining in the dim firelight.

There sure are a lot of them.

Ciera had disappeared while everyone else was busy talking, searching for the mounts that had been promised. When she'd arrived, she'd found a small assortment of mounts, but found herself drawn to a pale grey pegasus that stood out from the other pure white ones. He'd been approachable, tame, and quite willing to let her take him by the reins and away from the others. By the time she'd arrived back with the rest of the group, they'd already started moving on. And they quickly ran into a fight. While the others hesitated for a moment, she joined in with Vahn rushing forward with a thrown spear.

"They really are undead..." Catherine's voice didn't hold particular tension, so much as academic curiosity. Putting that aside, she drew a tome out - the weight of it, the crackle of magical energy, the warmth of it on her hand... well, it told her that this was something she'd done many times, and something she was quite comfortable with.

Vahn acts first, taking hold of his mace and slamming it into one of the zombies. With so many around, his attention is divided, affording the undead the opportunity to slash at his arm, which begins to slowly bleed. He finishes his work.

Ciera swoops forward (the cave luckily having opened into a relatively high ceilinged area), and plants two javelins into the chest of one of the walking corpses, returning it to the earth.

Hoshiko's arrows unbalance the massive skeleton, which Otiros follows up with a crossbow bolt. The projectile smashes through the creature's vertebrae, and its head tumbles to the ground where the lights in its eye sockets fade away...

The artist scanned her foes, finding few weaknesses to exploit.

"...I will need assistance to fell one of our foes." Iris admitted. She sensed her powers would drastically weaken, but not finish them entirely.
